BARRON, WI (AP) - A judge has upheld sanctions against a pharmacist who refused to dispense birth control pills to a college student and wouldn't transfer her prescription elsewhere.
Barron County Circuit Judge James Babler affirmed the punishment the state Pharmacy Examining Board handed down against pharmacist Neil Noesen. The board ruled last April that Noesen failed to carry out his responsibility to get the prescription to someone else if he wouldn't fill it himself.
The board reprimanded Noesen, of St. Paul, Minn., and ordered him to attend ethics classes. He will get to keep his license if he informs all future employers in writing he won't dispense birth control pills and the steps he would take to make sure a patient has access to medication. He was also found liable for the cost of the proceedings against him, which came to about $20,000.
He was working as a substitute pharmacist at a Menomonie Kmart in 2002 when a University of Wisconsin-Stout student came in to refill her birth control pills. Noesen testified he asked her whether she would use the pills for contraception, and he refused to help her or return the prescription when she answered yes.
Noesen told the board he is a devout Roman Catholic. He said he refused to refill the pills or release her prescription to another pharmacy because he didn't want to commit a sin.
Birth control pills do not "kill" babies. I am against abortion too, but refusing to allow birth control is patently STUPID.
Maybe she wouldnt want contraception if it wasnt for some pedophile priest in her past.
"Being a prescription nazi and yanking a legal prescription away from a customer and refusing to give it back. Who is the militant here?"
The girl, although unbenkown to her by her actions against life. And those who agree with abortion and with her.
No, just kittens.
Show where I am pro-abortion. One post. You have gone from deception to flat out lying.
You have yet to answer my question about your logic about burth control equalling killing babies. Just becuase ytou dissemble doesn't throw me off the track.
You had better keep a LOOOONG list for confession, since you are racking up sins by the shovelful.
And remember if you sin and keep doing the sin, your absolution is much more difficult. Or does "go and sin no more" just a catch phrase for you?
At this moment you are clearly a CINO and a hypocrite.
What is it that you have against Christianity?
You're a hypocrite by sounding as if you're pro-Christian when, in fact, you're an anti-Christian by advocating the death of our species.
I see you don't have a sense of humor.
Sanctimonious twit.
"Maybe she wouldnt want contraception if it wasnt for some pedophile priest in her past."
By injecting into the discussion such ideas/thoughts you have, again, given yourself away as an anti-Christian.
Thank God there are so many of us.
Oh don't be silly. Birth control pills have been around for 40 years, and the species is going strong.
That, and I have a Muslim co-worker. So I'm kind of familiar about his religious views. Not that I always agree with his way of thinking though.
Plus, there are at least four pharmacies that I can think of in Menomonie, and the fact that Eau Claire and St. Paul are within an hour's radius of the city.
With Stout being a classic suitcase campus, plenty of commuter students, and a lot of students heading into either the Cities or Eau Claire areas over the weekends, there's a lot more available as far as pharmacies go.
When there are several other people in the area that'd be happy to have her business, I don't see the sense in her choice to actively pick a fight.
Who was looking for a fight? Look in the mirror lady? All this woman did was go to her pharmacy to fill a prescription for a legal drug that is filled millions of times a year in this country w/o any trouble. Some trouble making bible thumper with his sanctimonious attitude decides to play God and you say she is the trouble maker.
"I see you don't have a sense of humor."
When confronted with the enemy, I don't. In such a face-off I do have a great sense of self-preservation.
Beat you to it -- see my #122
But that paragon of lies, the Brotherhood, didn't see the humor.
And continues to evade my questions with standard lies I have come to expect from the sanctimonious idiots who can't defend their position.
They are so used to convinvong themselves "'cause I said so" that if you ask them for REASONS they are bereft or fall back on hackneyed logical fallacies (which of course are sins every one of them).
I couldn't agree with you more.
Let some jagoff pharmi' tell me he's not gonna refill my prescriptions (and yeah I've got a couple) and then snatch it from me because he believes my condition should be dealt with by "nature"? and not via medication, and he'd need his own damn prescriptions within minutes!
Really?! You would let a clerk dictate what you could or could not buy based on their own personal beliefs?
That's very surprising.
Some PETA-nut could refuse to sell you any meat and you'd just go to another store? A feminist could refuse to sell you the latest MAXIM and you'd be fine with that?
I find that hard to believe, to be honest.
Why should it have been avoided? The people have a right to know that there are religious wingnuts out there trying to force their beliefs on others at the expense of their employer and customers.
You have proven yourself to be a liar of the first order.
You should be ashamed of yourself. Snd you knew you lied and didn't correct it.
You continue to dance and assert and basically make an ass of yourself.
Answer my question with reasoning, not sanctimonious twaddle. Your assertion that birth control kills babies is not supported by anything other than your assertion.
We are all sinners, but tonight your soul is burdened by your lying words. You're doing Satan's work and quite successfully I might note.
I can direct you to several good sites that describe how to discuss and argue without resorting to logical fallacies (lying) as you continue to do.
Well, last fall, I had a floormate--who I'll call Tim. Tim was the kind of guy who dresses kind of preppy, can't really understand anything technical, but he's popular on campus and helped some of us become social.
Keep in mind that he was the same guy who bought a small BMW motor and jury-rigged it to his mountain bike and drove down the sidewalk with it--only to hide it in the showers where the university police found it over one of the breaks.
So, he goes down to the vending machine and buys the said white nondescript box for a buck. Apparently, someone told him the box held chocolates. Opens the box, and puts it into his mouth. Chews on it for a while in front of a group of us, then takes it out--only to realize it wasn't chocolate, but a rubber.
Needless to say, we all razzed him about it for a couple of weeks. The long story short--don't buy any small nondescript white box with the intention of eating the contents...
You, my FRiend, are an enemy of the Church. You display all the worst of Catholicism, including and especially using lies -- the worst of all sins -- to advance a cause that you realized you can't support and you talked yourself into a corner.
Evil is as evil does.
If you believe life begins at conception then yes birth control pills do kill babies. While the pill is supposed to prevent ovulation it is not 100% effective and occasionally ovulation occurs and an egg is fertilized. Progestin one of the birth control hormones prevents such a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.
