Company From United Arab Emirates Poised to Oversee Six American Ports Due to Sale

A company in the United Arab Emirates is poised to take over significant operations at six American ports as part of a corporate sale, leaving a country with ties to the Sept. 11 hijackers with influence over a maritime industry considered vulnerable to terrorism.

The Bush administration considers the UAE an important ally in the fight against terrorism since the suicide hijackings and is not objecting to Dubai Ports World's purchase of London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co.

The $6.8 billion sale is expected to be approved Monday. The British company is the fourth largest ports company in the world and its sale would affect commercial U.S. port operations in New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia.

DP World said it won approval from a secretive U.S. government panel that considers security risks of foreign companies buying or investing in American industry.

I'm not sure how to say this, but ya know, Someone or some Agency "Better start graphing out" all the ways we're losing our Country and assign weight factors to each situation like this and others. .

Then, it must be shown to us or the American people for it to sink in. Then maybe, we'll have a "Grass Roots Uprising" to save our Country before the "Cancer" takes over.

Sorry it's not well written, but that is how I feel is happenning to our Country.

I firmly believe all of this cumulative.

Something must start lighting a fire under our toes or it'll be the end of America as we knew it.

Well, this won't last long...just long enough to blow up New York, Phillie or Miami.

[STARWISE:] Someone, please explain the logic of this move to me.

A smart free market way to pay for the trade deficit - selling all the assets.

Someone, please explain the logic of this move to me.

It'll have to be someone with far more insight than I, as I find this whole thing disgusting.

I live in a port city, and the thought of Arabs coming in here isn't a nice one.

Good thing we aren't bringing in any tankers of oil or LNG from Arab countries into our ports then, eh?

"They are a SHIPPING Company. They have NOTHING to do with port security."

In Philadelphia at least, P&O Nedlloyd is a 50% partner in Delaware River Stevedores, who perform the actual port operations for the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority. I assume the situation is similar elsewhere.

So its a bit different from UPS, since UPS doesn't run Airport Terminals.

It garbage journalism. They are a SHIPPING Company. They have NOTHING to do with port security. This is like someone buying UPS. It has NOTHING to do with security.

How do you know? Did you hear that on Rush? What do you know about the details of this deal and what this company from UAE has will have access to? Why should we believe, hearing it from you, that this has nothing to do with security let alone selling our country out to foreigners once again?

Someone, please explain the logic of this move to me.

This is the trilaterals attempt at globalization of the Americas...a necessity before one world government. It is tine for a meaningful and strong third party to rid this country of treasonous presidents, politicians and judges.

I guess that takes care of the three branches of the government. Career bureaucrats should probably be included.

Stephen E. Flynn, who studies maritime security at the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations "It's not impossible to imagine one could develop an internal conspiracy, but I'd have to assign it a very low probability."

Would he assign a low probability to the WTC being hit by airliners?
