VOTERS OVER THE HILL (Clinton's support hits rock bottom)
NY POST ^ | February 12, 2006 | IAN BISHOP, Post Correspondent

Posted on 02/12/2006 3:54:14 AM PST by Liz

The GOP is seeing the first signs that it's made some nicks in Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's political armor in a new poll that shows her support dropping dramatically.

RasmussenReports.com surveyed Clinton's presidential hopes every two weeks over the last year.....found that support for her presidential ambitions has hit rock bottom............

Now just 27 percent say they'd definitely vote for her — down seven points from the start of the year — and 43 percent say there's no way they'd cast a ballot for her, an eight-point uptick in the past month.

Pollster Scott Rasmussen, who accurately forecast the outcome of the 2004 White House race, said Clinton's support has plummeted among men and party faithful.

This poll is the latest in a trend of weakening support for her White House hopes. She now has a 47 percent unfavorable rating, and 45 percent of respondents say she's a political liberal.

Those are the two key points GOP strategists are aiming to expand in the eyes of voters in America's heartland —the Midwestern states that will likely swing the election in 2008.

"As 2008 gets closer, she'll have to go to the left to win. We'll try to roll her further in that direction," one GOPer told The Post. "She's been talking moderate, but she has a liberal voting record — and we'll point that out and why she's trying to hide from it."

Let's also not downplay Iran. No matter what she does to portray herself as moderate, she does not have credibility on security matters. This hurts her badly.

The other thing that stuck was when our beloved Ken Mehlman pointed out that she has anger issues. And even the Dems acknowledged that it stuck. But the Beeste, having something of a tin ear politically when it comes to administering self criticism, launched a volley for Dems to speak up.

Which had the glorious effect of crankifying her ;-)

People in her own party are coming to the conclusion that she really didn't get ahead as her own person and are understanding that she's poison to their party. But because the party requires total deference to leadership (for the children), she will deal a heavy blow to the DNC.

"Although the mainstream media has lost much of their ability to shape the the news they are not powerless. They are still a force to be reckoned with."

A couple years back I'd have agreed with you. No longer. The dwindling power of the old media is precisely why hitlery is going nowhere. They can't rescue her from herself, her nasty demeanor and her liberalism, which is contrary to what most voters want.

:)

"Enter angry John McCain. "

McVain isn't about to abandon his senate leadership and his committee appointments to anyone. Why would he switch parties so "hitlery can win"? What does he owe her? He's a bloated egomaniacal loser who can't win himself, he can't run against Bush, so why would he move to another party to allow for hitlery to win?

I'm not buying it.

This is not good news, it's bad news. There's only one direction to go once you've hit rock bottom. She has two years to deal with this. Soon we'll be reading stories about Hillary's amazing comeback, how she's reconnected with the people, etc. The time for stories like this is February 2008, not 2006. It's all a setup for her great rally.

Her big mistake, and a fatal one, was becoming a senator. For people who are supposed to be so politically savy, I can't imagine why they would do something so stupid.

Saw her on TV about a week ago, sitting on a stage being fawned over by some media hack (I think it was this gig.) Wish I could find a pic, HRC looked like she was doing her best to look like Chairman Mao.

Why was it so fatal? Seems like a position of power to build for the future from.

Hillary doesn't have the ability to BS nearly as well as Bill.

She's NOTHING without him.

Together... Bill & Hillary Clinton make up one helluva dangerous individual. Bill's smarmy, mollasses charm combined with Hil's socialist convictions have worked like a cancer upon this nation.

HRC will use her rapist-partner on the campaign trail til he drops... having HIM do as much of the speaking as possible... without hurting herself for doing so. They will work the campaign like a tag-team... and the MSM will eat it up.

The DemocRATS can't keep Hillary out of the race. She has too much money, the best (and most ruthless) organization on the DemocRAT side, has bought and paid for at least half of the Senate and House Dems with cash and fundraisers.

She is going to run, and Heaven help any DemocRAT who tries to get in her way.

Now the national election.....well that is a different story. There will be good work for the "Pajamahadeen" come 2008.

Ah, here it is:Thread

What's Jane Pauley doing at a Dem fundraiser? Oh, wait, I forgot: "objective and open-minded" = "progressive"

Win or lose we need Spencer to get into the race if for no other reason than to give her a big challenge, expose her feet of clay, and to make her spend a big chunk of her campaign warchest.

Not if the third party is the Progressives.

The moonbats will not accept a centrist. No matter how convincing Hillary is in becoming a centrist, no significant number of Republicans is going to vote for her.

While I agree that Hillary is a very polarizing figure, this is way too early to write off anyone in the 2008 race.
She has the ability to raise a lot of money from the democrat base and if she follows her husband's lead, she'll become better at framing issues.
That being said, I'm glad we have the internet for this Clinton, not like in 92 when we didn't have ANY voice against the leftmedia onslaught that surrounded Bill's candidacy. The only thing we had was McLaughlin Group.

The blogswarm that surrounded the TANG document story has forever changed the landscape and insured that there will not be any "UPC Scanner" lies and bogus "How does the deficit personally effect your life?" questions this time around.

Good news for the republic. I'd prefer it if the polls are such to discourage a serious run, than have Hillary make the run of her life and possibly get lucky.
