Anyone who has gone 7+ months not even getting his ID straight or finding himself a future when he knows the end of the free ride is coming is no one I can feel sorry for.
This is truly the legacy of LBJ and Jimmah Carter, who kept giving out and giving out money from those who work to those who make demands.
I am sick of this stuff. I have worked for the last 59 years and paid taxes. I have gotten thru earthquakes and large out of control fires. Enough already!!!
Do ANY of these "evacuees" think there should be an end to the free ride and they should get themselves back to a life of some kind?
he could have walked, yes walked, to the DMV and got an ID card.
It might have taken him an hour or two and probably cost him 5-15 dollars.
But it's much easier to sit on the street corner and whine for 5 months....
check this one out...

This is starting to sound like the slave reparations chant.
Unfortunately, many folks, black and white, don't think the people you cited are 'real blacks' because they have left the plantation and accomplished something in life. They don't consider them role models, but Uncle Toms and Aunt Thomasinas. It's sad.
Oh boo hoo. Why weren't they trying to secure their own lodging and employment during all this time??
No tears for lazy losers.
I'm working temporarily in Baton Rouge...Airline Highway isn't the nicest place in town, but there are plenty of places in walking distance to go get a job..heck, I'm here from Atlanta working to support my family..
This incident, however, is typical of those left in hotel rooms...they wait, want and expect the gov't to take care of them..
If you would like on or off the Louisiana Ping list please FReepmail me and your name will be added or taken off of the list.
Ummm.... Whatever happened to families being the first line of help for folks in trouble/need? Exactly how long are the taxpayers suppose to "put-out"? Our welfare society further expands..... And the few people who actually work have to foot the bill.
The one obvious area that FEMA has fallen down (since they decided to take on this non-constitutional aid effort) - What the hell is the deal with the 12000 mobil homes in Hope Arkansas just parked? The Feds paid top dollar (I know personally - members of our church bought a mobile home right about the time FEME started buying up every house they could find. The dealer they bought the house from (hadn't been delivered yet) called them and offered $6k over what they paid for it. If the dealer could offer $6k - then what was the gov. paying for it? These folks paid nearly full retail price to begin with.
More wasteful government at work for you the slothful of society.
"The only thing it's going to do is create more stealing, more killing and more robbing in Baton Rouge. That's all it's going to do."--what else is new-that started 5 days after katrina
The first day you arrived at the hotel you should have been making arrangements for permanent housing, searching for employment, and traveling to the DMV to get an ID. But noooooooooo. You wait until the deadline and whine about "This ain't right." You sir, are a pathetic parasite that has been plucked from the posterior of Mr. taxpayer.
Reference is to the quoted man...not you.
If I owned a hotel, I would not have accepted any evacuees unless FEMA signed an agreement to take care of any damages they caused. I would have refused the money and gotten it from someone who was employed. Better yet,I would have bought insurance against damages and made them pay for it.
Geez - I go stir crazy stuck in my 4 BR house for one day waiting for a blizzard to end. Can you imagine living in a sleaze bag motel for 6 months? I'd be emitting screams worse than those of Howard Dean.
IIRC it hit on August 29, 2005.
