Columns like this are a sterling example of why our man Ron hired Peggy to write the speeches, and other people to give policy advice.
This lead in looks cribbed from another editorial I read on FR yesterday. Something saying that Dick Cheney was now incapable of leading because he had become a laughing stock.
The left is hoping for the death of this man (by heart attack?) on the fantasy belief that VP Cheney would be prosecuted for his death.
They take glee in the misery of others. And they still contend that they support the troops?
I don't know about the rest of you but I'm pretty tired of the "go hunting with Chaney" jokes. It wasn't funny the first thousand times I heard it.
I am so glad the Dims are spending endless time, effort and energy on this...reporting on reporting...thinking up jokes...posting like crazy. Because in a week this will all be forgotten and they will have missed the boat on several meaningful issues. David Gregory is a great example.
Peggy Noonan's 1990 memoir of the Reagan years, What I Saw at the Revolution, was a mellow, even touching account. But her columns lately show the frustration of an outsider, an increasing bitterness at her irrelevance. Surely not a day goes by that she doesn't wonder why she isn't as indispensible to W as she was to President Reagan. I wonder if it isn't time for Peggy to hit the Refresh button herself.
I read that Dick has been nominated for the Dan Quail VP Lifetime Achievement Award for a event that will never be lived down.

The democraps would have a SPASM if he did step down and the Pres. picked Condi for VP !!!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE EXCREMENT HIT THE ROTATING AIR CIRCULATION DEVICE WHEN THEY PRESS COLLECTIVELY GOES "OH $HIT!!!!"
Peggy has lost it.
Noonan plays up the humor of the shooting, though that ended for most conservatives the moment we heard that Whittington's injuries might be more serious than originally reported. Pretty tone deaf for someone who once was one of the best conservative speechwriters.
To publicly speculate on dumping Cheney immediately after he experienced such a personal nightmare goes well beyond tone deafness, it lacks common decency.
His recounting of the decision on how to handle it in the press seemed to reflect only incompetence, not malevolence.
Incompetence at what? Informing the press of a personal matter that did not affect national security? Having more concern for his friend than for feeding the media sharks? Oh, I get it! Peggy still considers herself one of the sharks! Too bad, I had a higher opinion of her.
As for "Pull! Sorry Harry! Pull!," you moron, they weren't trap shooting.
Peggy, please either stop digging, or retire.
