I still think we should compile a book of these cartoons, and market it. Heck let's send a copy to BinLadden, we could pack it in plastique.

Coming soon: "Danish restaurants apologize to Arab world for serving pork."

Reuters

"It is extremely important to point out that the aim behind our menu was not to attack the Prophet at all or devalue him, but as a simple freedom of choice," Sunday's apology said.

"We did not realize at the time how sensitive this issue was for Muslims in Denmark or millions of Muslims around the world."

"In terms of the Saudi newspapers printing the apology, why isn't it "breaking news"?"

I notice now that you cut the first few lines out beginning with the Saudi printing picking up with the old newspaper apology. You changed the focus of the story, and now asked why the original focus shouldn’t be Breaking News?

The apologies are fake. The advertisements in the Saudi Arabian newspapers were not put in by Jyllands-Posten.

Editor in chief denies any knowledge of the adds in an article in Politiken here:

http://politiken.dk/VisArtikel.iasp?PageID=439289

In Danish only, unfortunately. However, the headline reads: "Fake apology from JP in Arabian newspapers". And the subtext reads: Three Arabian newspapers have published an apology from the morning paper Jyllands-Posten. However, editor in chief Carten Juste knows nothing about the apology.

I'm waiting for the Arab world to apologize for mudhamhead!

Sura 9:5 of the “Koran,” “Slay the idolaters muslimes wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush.”

Even though I accidentally missed out the first few lines (something I corrected shortly afterwards in a subsequent post), it is quite clear from the remainder of the article that the Saudi issue is the primary focus here.

To Denmark: you lose, towelheads win.

All it took was a little screaming by a bunch of bearded crazies to make you apologize for printing some cartoons.
When you apologize for something you're saying that what you did was wrong and that you won't commit the act again.
You don't have the courage to stand by what you believe is right. You're a nation of pussies not deserving of respect.

Don't judge a nation by its newspapers, unless you're willing to have the same standard applied to you.

Fear wins.
Notice the use of the word 'prophet' this past week?

Never hear the term 'Prophet Mohammad' used by the media until this last incident.

....and the toddlers win!!!

Yeah, no kidding! Let's just hope that the next time, and I'm "checking my watch here," that muslim terror strikes that the rest of the world demands an apology from the Muslim world!!!

Now that they've apologized, the Muslims will not come up with a fresh set of demands!

Come on now, as we've seen, terrorist nation has been very gracious with Israel after agreeing to a host of things over the years there. /more sarcasm

Those first 15-20 comments indicate that the “printing” was not widely understood to be the primary focus, and I personally don’t think even that would have made it breaking news, ie the top 5 breaking stories of the day. It looks to me like someone behind the story wants to try to declare victory and quit the battle before making more enemies. I think that would have been a better focus to frame the information, but still not “breaking news”

So where are all these brave Danes denouncing this apology? 'Hey as long as it don't mess with my free health care and all my other socialist goodies, who cares?'
Bunch of EuroSocialist weenies, just like the Spanish and the French.

Muslims have a word for you, DHIMMI!

The Islamic Union of Europe is getting closer by the day.

We will have to de-nuke another entire continent soon it appears.

Hi, this is my first post here.
I'm Danish. The apology is a fake!!
Jyllands Posten has not apologised nor has the PM for that matter. Jyllands Posten will not, the PM cannot.

Anyway the whole cartoon thing is starting to become yesterdays news in Denmark. People carry on with their normal lives. Most Danes have realised that this has ceased to be a matter about some obscure cartoons.
The imams who spread the cartoons and additional disinformation have been barred by all political parties in the parliaments. It is more than hinted that when this settles down, an investigation about the role the imams had in this affair will be launched. Deportation and revoking citizenship (an extremely rare thing) have been suggested more than once.
According to a fresh poll the current govenment and their support party would win a comfortable victory if there was an election tomorrow. The support party (Dansk Folkeparti), which have advocated additional strengthening of the immigration laws are gaining a lot of support and are now close to be the second largest party in Denmark. So is their sister-party in Norway.

The consequenses of the boycott is limited. We hardly import anything from the islamic world, we are self-sufficient with oil. Our export to the islamic world amounts to between 3-5% of our total export or between 14-20 billion DKK. It is estimated that we will lose between 5000-12000 jobs. But as there is a shortage of qualified labour, that is not the biggest concern. In fact economics have even labelled the boycott as a blessing in disguise, in the sense that the Danish economy was close to overheating.

The socalled "silent majority" of muslims in Denmark have finally started to come out, most are busy distancing themselves from the radical muslims. - They know who will win the next election if they don't!

There is a considerable dissapointment about the somewhat lukewarm support Denmark have received from our allies and freinds in Europe and elsewhere. The stance by the British and US governments in particular have been noted. Bill Clinton, who was very respected in Europe and Denmark, have issued statements that have been noted too.

Finally a word on freedom of speech in Denmark. Freedom of speech is absolute. You are free to say or write whatever you want. But you may end up in court if you do. Just like in practically all wester countries.
The freedom to organise is also protected by the constitution. An organisation is only prohibited if it can be proved without any doubt that it is either criminal or subversive. That for instance mean that the Nazi party is legal in Denmark. And that (according to a survey published in the newspaper BT) may be the reason why Denmark have the lowest number of skinheads and racially related attacks in Europe. The more lunatics like the nazis speak out, the less support they get. The same goes with the radical muslims. They are shooting themselves in the foot with artillery!

Thank you for patience if you get this far.

You may quote this freely if you wish. Unfortunately I do not have time to partisipate much on this board.

- And thank you those who support Denmark. It really means something. And your country, whatever it is, could be exposed to a similar sort of blackmail too.

Things happen quickly here. This is what I wrote about this topic in another thread:

I don't have a single doubt that the Danish newspaper will refuse to send its sorrows to the Muslims. Nor do I think they will repeat the cartoons. They made their point. And we ought to learn from this whole lesson...Muslims are thin-skinned and unable to understand basic freedoms we enjoy in the west. I don't feel sorry for them....but rather...I'd like to see all of them in their native countries and enjoy all the freedoms you can find in a real Muslim country.
