ROCHESTER, N.Y. Feb 19, 2006 (AP)— Utility crews worked Sunday to restore power to thousands of homes and businesses from Michigan to Maine following a weekend winter storm, while slick roads and heavy winds were blamed for several deadly accidents.

As far south as Texas, ice and freezing rain canceled dozens of flights over the weekend at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, including 85 American Airlines flights, according to a company spokesman.

Little Rock, Ark., had a Sunday morning low of 18. Farther west, Alliance, Neb., bottomed out at 8 below, the National Weather Service said.

In the Upper Midwest, the 8 a.m. reading of 2 below zero at Duluth, Minn., combined with 17 mph wind for a wind chill of 23 below.

A reading of 18 below was recorded in Allagash, Maine, while temperatures dipped to a low of 10 degrees in Rochester and wind of up to 17 mph made it feel like almost 10 below zero, weather service said.

Bush's fault, plus global warming and I am sure Karl Rove is mixed up in there somehow.

Bitter Cold

Why is cold "bitter"? I can't taste it. Why isn't it bitterly hot in the summer time?

Of course it's Global Warming.

NO MATTER WHAT the weather is, it's evidence of man-made Global Warmning.

It's the Perfect theory.

I see Karl Rove has successfully repaired the Ice Age machine. He should keep the Glacier Melting machine on and let the two fight it out.

February made me shiver
with every paper I deliver
bad news on the doorstep
I could not take one more step

ST. AGNES’ Eve—Ah, bitter chill it was!
The owl, for all his feathers, was a-cold;
The hare limp’d trembling through the frozen grass,
And silent was the flock in woolly fold:
Numb were the Beadsman’s fingers, while he told
His rosary, and while his frosted breath,
Like pious incense from a censer old,
Seem’d taking flight for heaven, without a death,
Past the sweet Virgin’s picture, while his prayer he saith.

--Keats, "St. Agnes Eve"

Whew, just back from a weekend in northern MI, we got about 2' of snow, it was -10 degrees without the wind - and it was howling. Wild turkeys frozen into the trees, brutal.

This is no more evidence of a lack of global warming as a warming event is for global warming.

If you had a fair minded attitude you would know that one arctic blast means nothing.

Oregon is in a midst of a cold spell as well with us breaking a record low in Salem by 3 degrees last night, however, we have had a very mild winter(again) and the avg snowfall that the valley floor has seen has gone down to less than 2 inches a year compared to 36 inches a year in the 50's.

Global temps are on the rise. The dispute is whether or not the human impact means anything or this is just cycles that our planet goes through. One in which I have determined through much reading is in fact a cycle in which the planet would go through without us. Even if we are causing it perhaps it's the fire and brimstone death to the human race that God has called for.

Either way, try and temper your ignorance with the use of facts.

It was four degrees in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland last night, and my little boy, a newly-fledged Boy Scout, went on his first camping trip. Fortunately his scoutmasters are Army Rangers so everybody survived, fingers and toes intact. I am so pleased and proud.

That's great! I am glad your little boy had his first tough adventure and came through it unharmed. I am sure that will give him confidence in the future, that he can survive, which is good.
