Howard Dean, Democratic National Committee chairman, has endorsed Korb's paper and begun mentioning it in meetings with local Democratic groups.Whatever the Republicans are paying Howard Dean to be the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, it isn't enough.

Apparently they're not satisfied that this is enough like Vietnam yet. They want to add the element of a tenuous, micromanaged military commitment and use of insufficient force, instead of overwhelming force, so as to maximize our casualties. (We can blame every death, from the moment this plan hits the floor of congress, at their feet for the terrorists will fight 100x as hard knowing there's a goal ahead.)
Then, we can pull out in defeat, setting up Iraq and world terror for victory, while making every American death since the AM of 9/11 completely pointless and without meaning.
Great plan. Maybe we can call it "peace with honor" or something catchy like that.

Do they honestly think that 'strategic redeployment' will keep our soldiers from being targets of terrorists?
They are truly a buncha maroons.

This sounds like the existing Administration plan....
As the Iraqis stand up, we will stand down. By the end of 2007, the Iraqis should have sufficient military and police force to pacify their country.
We will keep a reserve of 50,000 or so...These will be Air Force, Special Forces, Logistics and Quick Reaction forces. We will also have several groups there ("Military Administration", Army and Marines) developing language and cultural skills to better aide us in the Arab world.
If Korb is purposing this to get the Dems on board and to take the war off the 2006 election, then it is a smart democratic move. Howard Dean would be smart to jump on this proposal, even though it is no different that what the Admin is currently attempting to do.

Good morning.
"former Reagan administration assistant Defense secretary, Lawrence J. Korb"
What is it with former Reagan bureaucrats? And why does anyone think that a former relationship with RWR's administration gives them any credibility?
It's like thinking that a flag officer promoted under bill clinton is to be trusted when it comes to military matters.
