Seems awfully early to be trotting out hit pieces. Could it be that the Dems aren't nearly as confident in Casey as they and the early polls might suggest? I imagine Santorum's warchest is causing more than a few gray hairs.

A call to the bank confirmed that its mortgages are only for investors and not for the general public. According to a review of the annual financial-disclosure forms that Santorum files, he has never held an investment portfolio with Philadelphia Trust. And in 2002, the year he obtained the mortgage, the value range he gave for his small number of investments could not have exceeded $140,000. The BEEF is Right Here ! This does NOT LOOK GOOD!

From a marketing perspective, this was a good move by the bank, having a U.S. Senator as a customer.
That looks pretty good on a credit application, too.
Time to move along.

I'd say he got a mortgage with a high rate of interest.

For example, America's Foundation made 66 charges at Starbucks Coffee, almost all in the senator's hometown of Leesburg, Va., and 94 charges at another D.C.-area vendor, HMSHost Corp. Virginia Davis, the campaign spokeswoman, defended all the charges as campaign-related, saying the senator prefers to meet political aides in coffee shops rather than on Senate property. GASP!!!! ... they bought cups of coffee .. IMPEACH HIM!

Well I don't think this amounts to anything....about 25 years ago I asked for a loan from my little bank and they said they couldn't process it because they did not make land loans. But they ended up making the loan anyway. So bank policies are not engraved in stone.

Here's the beef:
"They said it would be a violation of the Senate's ethics rules if Santorum received something a regular citizen could not get."
I am so freakin' sick and tired of those in the Halls of Congress, Pubbies included, who think they are better than the rest of us. Just one example: They have great retirement plans and benefits while Joe Six-pack has to worry every day if there's going to be any Social Security when he retires.
But then, I'm still ticked at Santorum for endorsing the Rino, Arlen Specter in the '04 GOP Primary. Go ahead Ricky baby; give ol' Casey more ammo to use against you. This is one Conservative who would not cry if you lost.

It appears that Santorum's unconventional mortgage deal could pose the biggest problem for the senator, who consistently has trailed his likely November rival, Democratic state treasurer Bob Casey Jr., by double digits in the polls. That is a blatant hit piece. And guess what? It is having the desired effect even here! WHAT THE HECK! So many here, "It doesn't look good..."
A bank can make a loan to whomever they wish! There is nothing illegal or improper about that. He's not a big-time investor? So what? Has anyone ever gotten a loan based upon a personal relationship with a banker? It happens ALL the time. How many banks or lenders have loaned money to struggling businesses? No apparent reason to make such a loan on paper, but the business model and a personal relationship often are enough to secure such a loan. Given the Santorum's household income, a $500k loan is not unreasonable. A $500k house is also really not that big of a deal these days.
Back off. This is a typical MSM hit piece. There will be many more that follow.

Maybe the wife doen't work and doesn't bring in any income. I can't get past the six-children-and-cyber-schooling thing. I raised three and sent them to school, and I was still busy every minute of the day. Who's supervising the schooling? A live-in teacher?

There is no evidence that Santorum - who sits on the Senate Banking Committee - took any official actions on behalf of Philadelphia Trust. So... what's the problem, then?

SANTORUM is notorious for abusing the power of his position. He has the LOCAL pa school district PAY for his kids to have long distance schooling. He claims residence in Pa so he can represent who voted for him but lives in VA.. He wants his kids with him in VA but want PA to foot the bill for their education.

Oh, s**t! As if Santorum doesn't have enough problems.
If this can be cleared up in a short time, there's no lasting damage. But if there's something to it...well, I think we all know the answer to that.

As Michael Smerconish said on is show today - Where's The Beef? Exactly. Wonder what Rendell's expense account looks like LOL.

This is a big, wet kiss for Casey from the homo's in the Philly media. Last week, Casey stood up proudly in defense of extra rights for homos.
The story is a joke, however. It's muckraking in the worst sense of the word--a desperate attempt to make legal transactions look suspect, and to insinuate illegal ones.
But nothing is beyond the Philadelphia media. Lies against anyone but the most unreformed leftists are their stock-and-trade.
