I just find in nauseating that liberals would not take the time to learn this before blithely elevating one of their own to sainthood for self-imposed lung cancer. In 230 years, nobody ever had the audacity to suggest that the street be named for a 22 year-old man who regretted only that he had but one life to give for his country. I can't tell you how much this stinks of what is wrong with liberals and how pissed off I am by this.

Hitler left an indelible mark on European politics, but I haven't heard of anyone naming streets after him. Outside Iran, that is.

NYC street to be renamed in Peter Jennings' honor (West 66th St renamed for Canadian journalist)

Well, not the exact same spot. The part named after Jennings is on the West Side, and the Nathan Hale site is on the East Side. So at least there is a mile or so cordon sanitaire between the Hero and the Commie.

Close enough. My point is that I am still waiting for the upswelling calling for part of 66th st to be renamed for Hale. I won't hold my breath.

And, actually, now that I think about it, 3rd Ave & Central Park West can't be more than 1/2 mile apart.

Maybe, just maybe there's someone in the NYC officialdom who knows the significance of this ... isn't there a plaque or something there??? And why wasn't it named Nathan Hale street or something like that .... Freedom Square???

It is a permanent geographical memorial to the man who left such an indelible mark on the landscape of American journalism. He did? Who knew?

Jennings once dated the spokeswoman for the Palestinian authority. I still see her on the news from time to time.
