Bin Laden 'largely a spent force' (Now we know why...)
Osama bin Laden is "largely a spent force" whose capture would not affect global Islamic terrorism, a British security consultancy has said.
The company headed by former British Army colonel Tim Spicer predicted that bin Laden or his second-in-command Dr Ayman al-Zawahiri will be "taken out of circulation" in 2006.
Publishing its annual assessment of the global terror threat, Aegis Defence Services said the greater menace was now from home-grown terrorists in Europe with no previous link to known groups and no formal terror training, such as those who carried out the July 7 atrocities.
"Osama bin Laden is out of the mainstream, but still capable of making threats," said the report.
"Bin Laden is largely a spent force, whose position is now emblematic and whose role is confined to setting the world view of aggressive defence of Islam against the 'West'. He is certainly no longer in operational control of events.

I have more New York Slimes Editions on my FR Homepage and my Archives Page
This may all be true... but we need to capture him anyway. I sometimes get the impression people downplay Bin Laden to excuse the fact we have not caught him
Can I steal your newspaper?
I want the body so it can be thrown off the Empire State Building on fire.
I am stealing the Silver newspaper..it is so funny.
LOL!

Nice parodies of the Slimes. Real nice. So close to the truth...
I am actualy one of the few that want Bin Laden alive.
That he never be entitled to see the light of day again.
I would prefer to have him and Saddam bunking up in a 8 x 8 x8 cell on 3 squares of black beans and rice for as long a they manage to breath.
I suppose the dimensions on that cell are a bit generous?
Provoking him to make a reckless display of command authority... bring him out from under cover a little bit more than is wise... thus a little bit easier to capture?
Say what Fry?
I often think that the smartest thing we ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,c,o,,,,u,,,,l,,d,, ,,,,h,a,,,v,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (note, that gibberish was due to my cat deciding to sit on the keyboard while I was trying to type).
Let me try that again: I often think that the smartest thing we could have done would be to kill or capture Bin Laden long ago, and then NOT TELL ANYONE. Instead, we could start issuing various orders in his name, like "Okay, I want all of my leitenants to meet me at such-and-such a place on June 7th at 6pm". Then when they show up, they just have the "bad luck" to get raided by the Marines... Rinse, repeat.
One of the things that make your Slimes so funny is that pelosi is a recurring character, like the editor always says 'And make sure you get a quote from Pelosi' no matter that the story. I'm not sure why but that's the perfect wacky touch.
My guts hurt...
Last time I laughed that hard was during Grizzlyy Man on the Discovery Channel...
Keep those coming!
Maybe I'm the only one, but I think Bin Laden was killed when we bombed all those caves in Afghanistan.
It's suspicious to me that there is no video of him since then and the audio tapes are not convincing to me.
If he were still alive, Bin Laden would be sending out video every other week of himself taunting Bush.
I could be wrong, but I think he's dead.
