As a 76 year old Brit I was astounded when I saw on the TV last night shots of the Mardi Gras and then scenes showing the broken houses and rubbish still piled up in other areas of the city.

I can't understand how this could be so in the richest country in the world..I would have thought that everyone would have pulled together to get the place up and running.

My city was badly bombed during WWII and I remember the next morning right after the raids men and women would be out on the street tidying up the rubble and stacking the bricks ready to rebuild the houses. We had a US army base close by and they came out with dozers and helped us clear up the mess. This was much appreciated I can tell you.

Now..when the disaster strikes one of your own cities nobody seems to care..I don't get it!!

It's what happens when folks get used to expecting someone else to take care of them.

The report said there was still no electricity and water to the homes..surely this would have been the first thing restored so that rebuilding could commence wouldn't it?

Who is responsible for these services? Maybe a well aimed rocket up their sixes might be in order!

What kind of a place is it, that lets tour buses drive around 7 days a week gawping at your own peoples misery?

Surely 5 days would be sufficient?

NO can GO...

Really don't care about a corrupt bunch of Dems that don't have a CITY to rape and pillage for their own personal gain anymore...

Those 100,000 people in Houston have already put down their roots there and started the next crime rampage.
