WASHINGTON If unmarried women turned out in force for elections, they could shape the results. But they dont. Its a tantalizing problem, especially for Democrats, whom unmarried women tend to favor. If the 20 million who didnt vote in 2004 had turned out, John Kerry would be in the White House, based on figures released by a liberal get-out-the-vote group. If they had even turned out at the same rate as married women, Kerry probably would have won.

No real news here. The dems are now courting lesbians, we already knew they own the gay mans vote, ho hum.

There they go again. The Democrats pin their hopes on single women. Of course they are insecure since their jobs hang by a thread and there's no man to bail them out if disaster strikes. So they look to the government as a substitute husband and provider. For the Democrats, the challenge is how to motivate their dependent constituency to turn out and vote for them.

So, the theory is... "If only the dumb blondes would have voted..."
Yup, that sounds solid. When will people realize that, just because everyone has the right to vote, it doen't mean that it's not a good thing that the stupid ones tend not to.

Generally, I didn't find very many single women who liked John Kerry. If they'd turned out to vote, they probably would have voted for a third party candidate, or for Bush, as equally as they would've voted for Kerry, still resulting in a Bush victory.

If people who were uninformed and didn't care enough to bother had voted... John Kerry would be President right now. It's a good post... but a stupid story.

So is there really anything new in this?
They have been doing this for years.
They already have those votes. They would be far better courting divorced men and reducing their deficit in that department.

I guess somebody forgot to tell the 'Rats that young people generally are drifting towards conservatism

Blah blah blah, if felons could have voted Kerry would have won! /sarcasm

Its irrelevant. The Democrats need an agenda to run a national campaign on. Where is it? Their problem isn't the voters; its their message or rather the absence of one.

Oh, please. I'm a single woman and I voted for Bush. (And Reagan, for that matter.)

Doesn't this tell them their candidate was NOT what they wanted? When people don't vote it is because they don't care or they don't like any candidate offered. Furthermore, who says they would actually vote Democrat? The Democrats? Is this like Zell Miller stepping away from the Democrats because they are too far to the Left?
HEY Democrats....GROW UP !
