A 'Freedom Ride' To Anti-Gay Colleges
Star Tribune ^ | March 03, 2006 | Pamela Miller

When Jacob Reitan heard a young man talk about the pain and fear he felt as a gay student at Wheaton (Ill.) College, a school that opposes any expression of homosexuality, he got an idea.

Reitan, 24, of Eden Prairie, was inspired by such stories, as well as by an admiration for the civil rights activists of the 1960s, to organize a "freedom ride" that will travel by bus to 19 U.S. colleges with religion-based policies that exclude gays. The young activists, who are Christians, hope to talk with students and faculty members. This morning, Reitan and four others will fly to Washington, D.C., to join about 30 other "Soulforce Equality Riders" for training before they set out on their seven-week, cross-country crusade.

On Thursday night, hundreds gathered at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis to honor the Minnesota participants -- Reitan; David Durand, 26, and Carolyn Westra, 25, both of Minneapolis; David Coleman, 23, of Delano -- and ride co-organizer Haven Herrin, 23, of Dallas.

Issues around homosexuality deeply divide U.S. Christians. Some believe the Bible compels them to oppose gay rights, while others say it calls them to advocate for them.

At Thursday's service, Coleman received a standing ovation after he spoke emotionally about being kicked out of North Central after revealing that he is gay.

"God loves you just the way you are," said Coleman, who was a senior when he was asked to leave the college last year. "Nothing can take us away from the love of God."

Durand said the riders will speak "for those who can't speak for themselves, because they must stay closeted."

Said Westra: "These [anti-gay] folks won't come to us, so we have to go to them."

More shoving their way into places that choose "Freedom of Religion" and "freedom of Association" among other rights.

Their mission is to impose their will on others, has nothing to do with rights!

While I stand with you on the moral unacceptability of homosexuality, don't think for a minute that these people "chose to be that way." They didn't choose to have the attraction that they do; the DID choose to act on it.

I think an analogy to alcoholics or child molesters is apt; both hate themselves for what they do and wish they could stop, but continue to engage in their destructive behavior.

I dont see alot of "haters" at the gay pride parade.

If they cared about quitting they wouldn't be so full of pride.

In I Cor 5:1-5 God lays out very clearly how unrepentant sexual sin in the body is to be dealt with.

I Cor:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

They are to be shunned.

Now if it were a lost person struggling with this we are allowed to be a little more accomodating, but once they get saved God expects them to repent of their sin and do it no more.

Therefore I say that one cannot be a Christian and a 'homosexual'. Since by claiming to be a 'homosexual' you are stating that you've never repented of that sin and how could you become a Christian without repenting? You cannot.

I swear that some of these "activists" chose these colleges simply so they can make a big stink when they get kicked out for violating the rules.

This is exactly correct. The key point to remember is that everything for the 'homosexual' is about the sex. That's why they label themselves by their sexual practice.

The second law of homosexuality:

To the mentally healthy person (heterosexual), sex is something you do;
To the mentally diseased person ('homosexual'), sex is everything you are

" "These policies are based on religion, but we don't believe that's what Christ came to do. He came to throw off old laws, to expand our understanding of what God meant."
Jesus Christ certainly did NOT come to earth in human form to promote the behaviors involved in homosexuality.
Queers ( their word NOT mine so please can the outrage) can't use the Bible or religion to add respectability to living a sinful life. We are all sinners. I certainly am. Nevertheless, there is a world of difference between committing sinners privately and publically advocating for acceptance of sinful loathsome behaviors. The only connections between the Black man's condition of slavery in America and the queer notion of homosexual rectitude are in the minds of the left.

The young activists, who are Christians, hope to talk with students and faculty members.

Then it is possible for a Christian to be condemned to hell. Romans 1 and 1 Corinthians 6 makes it quite clear who will not inherit the Kingdom, and homosexuals make the list.

A.W. Tozer said that God is easy to please, but difficult to satisfy.

Yes, but I don't remember anything in his writing that implied that God would only love us conditionally. In fact I believe he wrote the opposite.

There is plenty of "if you will____, then I will ____" in the Bible, both Old and New Testament. I think we're getting Love and Relationship confused. God loves all mankind perfectly and infinitely, yet will condemn the majority of mankind to separation in Hell.
