But that might be wishful thinking. Congress, by nature, is an inefficient institution driven by self-interested politicians. Wasteful spending is par for the course. And if it is sad that lawmakers treat homeland security the same way they treat everything else, it certainly isnt surprising.----that about wraps it up---

Will read later.
However, it is our responsiblity as citizens to be prepared. We cannot assume the government is going to take care of us. For those who wish the government to be the answer to everything---you are an idiot!

Hey, he could be a bomb-strapped Jihadi Salafi shaheed in frail American senior citizen's clothing!

Your picture reminds me of my grandfather who a couple of months ago traveled to see his grandchildren by plane. Long story short. Grandpa is WWII vet, 92, wears a locomotive jumpsuit an AirForce Hat was stopped and frisked at Lubbock International. God Bless him, he told the young sniffer "GD those Arabs" Yikes...

Could not agree more with the idea that we must ALL be prepared. This is an insidious war we are in. The enemy does nor wear a uniform or openly declare a war zone. Each of us must be vigilant and cautious.

They forgot the most important reason for "How did this happen?": that Washington D.C. is a festering pit of influence peddling and corruption that would make Caligula blush.

Your tagline is actually a statement from one of bin Laden's speeches - and I've seen the video.

Congress is a miracle of nature--it turns beef into pork.

Right.
Considering Congress/Fed's track record, why is anyone surprised?
Incompetence and corruption are not problems of just "other countries".

Your picture reminds me of my grandfather who a couple of months agoWhen my son was 3 years old, he got pulled aside and wanded. Seems he touched the metal detector going through (as a 3-year-old would). What a sight - a child that young with arms spread getting searched. My camera was in the luggage unfortunately.

" Afraid we won't be laughing about it though."
Nor will we be as gung-ho supporters of it under a Dem. president as we so short-sightedly are now (some of us).
