That's less than half of the number of people who voted for John Kerry in the last election. I thought the turnout among libs for the Oscars would be way higher than that. I can see we're making progress. Mainstream, my ass!

It's definitely getting harder and harder for people to plausibly throw out that old canard that all they're interested in is making as much money as possible. They've probably never been more out of touch with America than they are now.

Here I come...look at me, look at my gown...look at my hair...look at my jewels that were BORROWED...look at my shoes..look at my beautiful skin...got it at Botox...look at the limo I came in...don't I look beautiful? Look at how low my dress is in the back and front? Daring isn't it? Look at how much I have exposed of myself. Look at how we pump each other up. Look at how I stand on the red carpet and let the dufus's in the press photograph me. I am turning now...look at my back and my sides and my front...ooops, sometimes I slip out of my front...tee hee, it's sooo cute isn't it? Like I left the house not knowing that I could slip out of my dress anytime but...that's who I am. Look at me, look at me and oh yes, don't forget to look at me.

That's boring I know folks but...that's WHO they are and WHAT they are and...they ARE self centered, talentless and...BORING.

Crash," an Oscar rarity that was shot outside the studio system on a meager $6.5 million budget, became a solid box-office hit, grossing $55 million domestically.

$55 million? That's it?

I didn't think that was even a weekend gross for a 'hit' movie.

The spin never ends.

That, by any measure, is a huge audience!

Is there a correlation between the 40% who watch the Oscars and those people who consider themselves Democrats?

(the dead voters would make up the difference)

Kinda makes you go "Hmmmm".

LOL!

ROFLMAO!

Is that your way of saying that watching the Oscars is like watching the Ass-kissing Awards at a narcissist convention?

(grin)

Ah, but would you personally turn down an investment that yields a 700 to 800 percent profit? I wouldn't.

I did see Crash and I liked it.

Heck no! :-)

I'm glad. I was just pointing out the 'solid box-office hit' reference.

Does 'solid' come before or after blockbuster on the Hollywood rating chart?

LOL!

Narnia was around $300 million (I think) and not even a blip on their radar.

The Oscars would get huge ratings if they formatted the show for the average viewer. They take 2 hours to give out two of the 6 to 8 awards people are actually interested in. Cut it down to an hour, lose the schtick, and cut out the "Best Editing By A Left-Handed Foreigner" type awards.

40 percent of the TVs in use last night were tuned to the awards? I don't believe it. All of these propaganda films will now go to premium cable (subsidized by your dollars) where they will reach the audience they didn't get in the theaters. There is no dichotomy between Hollywood and television anymore. Here is an article on the funder of a lot of these films. In the age of mass media democracy is dominated by the media barons.

If I was a negotiator, I could give you a dollar amount the 10% drop in audience would cause, but alas, I am not. Spots are almost always purchased against audience delivery of a certain age group anyway (Adults, Males, Females.. 18-34, 18-49, 25-54)....never on Household numbers. The monetary effects of this audience drop are really more long-term and not really apparent until you get to next year's awards season. There are also non-audience specific factors. Similarly, Super Bowl spots are more costly if the two teams come from large markets or have a longstanding rivalry...same with the World Series.

As for your offing the disco..can't say I blame you. I have the Range Rover on very limited duty now. I dumped $45 worth of gas into it on Friday and watched half of it go bye-bye within 100 miles....And it just passed emissions with Flying colours. I know the motor is in prime shape and I don't drive like a maniac. That vehicle is a tank and it acts like one at the pump. When gas was a dollar cheaper, it didn't hurt as bad but I know that the RR is gonna last until they outlaw gas vehicles because I hardly ever drive it.

"Total homosexual pop. is just under 2%.

Number who have tried it is about 3% maybe?"

Yes, but what percentage of the self-centered sheep herders pretending to be cowboys are stool-pushers? That's what really matters...

Oh that.

West Hollywood/fashion writers/Washington/TV/movie//designers/New York writers/theater/acting percent is likely upwards of 15-25% committed homosexual/lesbian, 40+ percent who have tried it. 35+ who flirt between all their other sexual affairs.

My husband, son and I watched National Treasure and really enjoyed that movie! It came on after dinner and we never missed the Oscars.

That's what my wife and I watched last night too.

The majority of Democrats are not Hollywood-type lefties...contrary to the belief of the elitists. I wonder what the international ratings were like?

The overnight ratings only survey the large markets, which are where most of the liberals are.
