OOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
I am in awe of such men. What character!
I'm just about to send KLEENEX stock through the roof, right now.
Just Wow. God Bless this man.
I had some WWI documentary on the TV today, and they had one clip of a long line of British soldiers on parade, all had crutches, all missing a leg.
I don't know if civilians are allowed to say this, but Semper Fi guy, we appreciate your service!
I've always been a civilian (although son of a 28 yr. Army Col. vet., and tried to get into the Naval Academy).
I'm beginning to think I've either got weak bones, did too many sports, or I just do too much crazy stuff.
I almost lost my arm in a motorcycle accident once. You should see it, the skin grafts make it look like it went through a meat grinder, not to mention the steel plate sometimes make the metal detectors go off. It took 30 days in the hospital and 4 operations.
I've had casts on every limb at one point at least, plus a broken collar bone, plus a double shoulder dislocation from a motorcycle accident.
I currently have a broken ankle and re-dislocated shoulder from slipping on some ice.
All this to illustrate that while I haven't suffered this gentleman's loss, I understand a tiny bit of what he might have gone through with his injury.
These stories always make my monitor screen blurry!
I MET THIS GUY WHEN I WAS IN D.C. A FEW WEEKS AGO!
He and his wife decided to stay a couple of nights in the hotel where I was attending a convention and I met him and his wife in the bar. I have been telling everyone about him since. VERY impressive young man.
The worst part of talking to him was hearing about the protesters at the hospital.
This doesn't tell the full story. The way Jordan told the story to us at the bar, the first IED exploded, injuring several of the marines. Jordan and a couple of other guys rushed to their aid. That is when the second IED went off.
He didn't say it to brag... in fact, when I told him I thought that it made him a hero, he shrugged it off and said "That's just what you do."
Needless to say, I refused to let him buy a single drop.
BTTT
I wanted to find this one for you... not that it is all that exceptional... (the kid is exceptional)... but because I had the honor of meeting this guy and buying him and his lovely wife a few beers.
Good story, but might make your screen a little blurry.
