Dark and lonely on a summer night
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord
Watchdog barking -- do he bite?
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord,
Slip in his window, break his neck
Then his house I start to wreck
Got no reason -- what the heck!
Kill my landlord, kill my landlord
C-I-L-L
My landlord

Pretty much devalues every award given out the other night. All the losers can tell the winnners, "So what? They gave one to Three 6 Mafia. I, as a loser, am in better company that you."

The only place many people see our culture is through movies and on television, and at the same time, this country is experiencing an influx of people coming over here from all over the world, and the only thing they see of black America through the media is . . . pimps and gangsters and all of that. It's always some low-down brother or some welfare mother." And any black who portrays a successful career-oriented family-loving adult is castigated as "acting white".

I think next year we should look into Bestiality as a song topic.

Obviously Mr. Jessup has never attended the annual "Players and Pimps" block party in Harlem.

Tsk tsk...don't they realize that all black people are downtrodden due to social inequity and white oppression, and that pimpin' is the only way out of the hood they live in?

The only reason it has a place at the Oscars is that it was central to the whole film. Him writing the song was what the whole thing was about. The rest of the songs played in the background of the films.

It's called rap you dumbass. It's only claim to fame is that it is offensive. There isn't one other redeeming quality to the auditory slime.
You're being to kind. What I think of rap can't be posted here.

"I have no problem with movies and songs being gritty," she said, "but I have a problem with something that falls just short of a minstrel show."
Very interesting comment. I have been saying for years that rap music is the minstral show of modern times. Just look at any rap video, with the stylized fingers pointing and performers striding back and forth.
Blacks look back now at movies of the 30's and think their clowning is derogatory (I remember Stymie talking about how some blacks would criticize him.)
Years from now, that rap clowning is going to be looked on as an embarrassment. And they are going to blame white America for "making them do it".
