The Summit Christian School community is praying for its families and cooperating with law enforcement officials after the weekend arrest of a former teacher on sex charges involving a child, headmaster Sam Skelton's office said Monday.
Parents are invited to a 7:30 a.m. meeting today at the West Palm Beach campus gymnasium, and counselors are available to talk to students about Chad Joseph Stoffel's recent statement to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The 29-year-old music teacher from Palm Springs, who resigned from the school in December, told investigators last month that he engaged in sexual activity with a 16-year-old boy from another private school, Wellington Christian, four times in October and November.
Stoffel, charged with four counts of unlawful activity with a minor and four counts of battery, was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday on $25,000 bail. He has no prior arrests, according to state authorities.
During interviews with detectives, he said he had engaged in sexual conduct with boys in Palm Beach and Broward counties dating back 10 or 11 years, according to Sheriff's Office records.
That includes a claim, still under investigation, of a sexual relationship with one of his students at Summit Christian that allegedly began when the boy was 14 years old. Pembroke Pines police spokesman Capt. Lawrence Diaco said the department was investigating allegations that Stoffel may have molested boys in Broward County.

Liberal Bob says, "It's okay guys, he's gay."
Sheriff's investigators initially contacted Stoffel on Feb. 1 when he was undergoing counseling at Love In Action International Inc., a Memphis, Tenn.-based ministry dedicated to rooting out homosexual behavior, its Web site says, "through the power of Jesus Christ.""Strict confidentiality" involves calling the cops on a patient? It was at the ministry that Stoffel confessed his actions to a counselor, who then contacted Palm Beach County authorities, according to police reports. Stoffel also reported his activities to the Florida Abuse Hotline before authorities contacted him, according to a statement.
Love in Action spokesman Gerard Wellman said Monday he could not comment about the case due to "strict confidentiality requirements."
At any rate, I'm glad someone stopped Stoffel
Hey, it's Florida. Whaddaya want? More perversion from "The Plywood State."
I assume there is a provision that requires counselors to report crimes. One should be afraid of the many leftist counselors that consider adult sex with children to be a victimless crime or no crime at all. I have a feeling that there is much more of this not reported than reported...
Calling the authorities is the right action. Even though the man confessed his sin and desires to be free of it, he is still responsible for his past action and must face all results from it.
The school might have been shocked but shouldn't have been, these predators are in all walks of life. They should be put away where they can't reach minors, and people should stop trying to make excuses for them.
music teacher .......shocked, I tell you, shocked!
Where's my 10' Pole?
I thought that private schools were the answer to all our educational problems?!
Glaringly not, it appears.
Councilors are required to report instances of child abuse.
When disgusting perversion like this happens, it is not hard to see where homophobes come from. This poor boy is likely to despise the kind and loving ways of homosexuals for the rest of his days. Sarc
I know a fellow who confessed a serious crime to my [former] priest. Instead of reporting the crime to the cops, my priest convinced the penitent to go himself to the police.
I guess it's a difficult situation for counselors and doctors if the patient refuses to do the right thing.
As you said, even if the person is contrite, he must pay for his crimes in this life. It reminds of the Texas lady who became a 'born again' Christian while in prison, but she was still executed a few years back. She accepted the fact that her murderous past had to have consequences in our legal system.
We need more discrimination, not less. Homosexuals should not be in any profession in which they have contact with children and that includes teenagers.
Cant help but wonder what this would have amounted to if the Teacher had been a lesbian and a 16 year old girl.
Your priest behaved precisely as he is required to. I commend him highly.
Um, he was a Christian too...wanna ban them also? /sarc
You really think legalized discrimination is a solution? Please. This sick f*&k was a pedophile. However much people may hate homosexuality, that is a completely different issue than pedophilia.
"Homosexuals should not be in any profession in which they have contact with children and that includes teenagers."
I have a 36-year-old gay cousin. He is a teacher of middle school band students. All of his dates are young college students, most of whom still can't legally get into bars. Too close for comfort for me. I have a sneaky feeling he is going to screw up eventually with a student.
He is my cousin and I wouldn't trust him with my kids.
Pedophilia is rampant within the homo "community" in no way is it a separate issue but as closely connected as night and day.
