PINCH GRILLED BY TIMES STAFFERS (gets chilly reception at annual state-of-the-Times address)
NY POST ^ | March 8, 2006 | KEITH J. KELLY

Posted on 03/08/2006 3:24:42 AM PST by Liz

Arthur "Pinch" Sulzberger Jr. apparently was given quite a chilly reception in his annual state-of-the-Times address.....

Newspaper Guild members have already had to give up their raises for the year to rescue their embattled healthcare coverage, and 500 employees are losing their jobs.

Floyd Norris, a business columnist, was said.... to be particularly intense in grilling Sulzberger on why (Pinch) would not give back his hefty million-dollar bonus this year to save jobs.

"He kept ducking [the question]," ......"It was lame, lame, lame."

There's nothing much for liberals to cheer about. The Hammer won. Err America tanked in New York. And the city's flagship liberal newspaper is far from being a picture of sound financial health. Looks like they aren't shaping public opinion all that much. The myth of the all powerful MSM is just that - a myth. As far as I'm concerned, The Pinch's difficulties make my day!

He probably told them the answer to all their problems is obvious. They need more leftist slant.

Nothing quite succeeds like failure: shovel more treasonous crap in Americans' faces. Well the American people are fed up and have had enough. Take that, Pinch!

Why? Because he is one of the annoited ones. The annoited are smart liberals and deserve everything they can get and more for leading the sheeple. The gospel of equality they preach is for the sheeple, not the annoited. Now, shut up and get back in your place! < / sarcasm>

LOL! They fired Jayson Blair only when their hand was forced. Blair may be gone but his ghost lives on at the NYT.

When the FBI gets done with the NYT their financial situation is going to be the least of their problems.

Leaking classified material in a time of War is a very serious crime.

I want to see Pinchy boy and his editorial staff frog marched out of their offices in handcuffs.

From here, I love it. I've complained over the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News buying and reprinting NY Times stories and this is like icing on the cake.

This is their Business columnist coming up with this class warfare, redistribute-the-wealth nonsense. You would expect something like that from a Style editor, but your Business columnist should really know better.

Yo! Floyd! He owns the FReepin' paper. This million dollars is earnings on his capital. It's called capitalism. Look it up. There are a lot of good books on the subject.

Frankly, though, this nonsensical statment was a smart move. Now if Floyd Norris' name comes up on the bottom of the Seniority list, Pinch will be afraid to fire him because it will look like retaliation. It makes the New York Times look like a bunch of morons, but that is a dog-bites-man story all day long.
