"On June 7th, 1942, the Chicago Tribune published a story revealing the U.S. has advance knowledge of the Japanese assault on Midway Island. The Tribune wasn't prosecuted for this enormous breach of security, for fear of alerting the Japanese, who apparently hadn't noticed their radio codes had been broken."

More evidence that FDR knew what was coming ?

Floyd Norris, a business columnist, was said.... to be particularly intense in grilling Sulzberger on why (Pinch) would not give back his hefty million-dollar bonus this year to save jobs. "He kept ducking [the question]," ......"It was lame, lame, lame."

If he had any HEART & SOUL, he would give back the hefty bonus to save jobs.

In the grandest tradition of "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need".

Of course, in Pinch's case, "ancestry" counts for somewhat more than "ability".

Just imagine what an incredibly depressing work environment the Times must be for any normal person (of which, there are doubtless precious few).

If ancestry counts.....Pinch has to be classified as the "bad seed."

I want to see Pinchy boy and his editorial staff frog marched out of their offices in handcuffs.

I'm not a spiteful being; however, I would love to see Pinch doing the perp-walk.

The old grey lady of the evening wouldn't print the picture, so we'd have to pitch in and buy an ad.

(I suspect that there's a lot of ad space available, too.)

Arthur "Pinch" Sulzberger Jr. apparently was given quite a chilly reception

I would like to see him get a chilly reception in the harshest Federal penitentiary we have in this country. Pinchie has done more to damage this country's security programs since Aldrich Ames.

Pinch is no idiot, but his employees don't have a clue.

Sulzberger knows that the days of print media have passed. Knowing that the NYT is at its end, Pinch has decided to go out with a bang.

He's printing every illegal leak, every lie, every anti-U.S. story that he can get his hands on.

His staffers, due to severe left-wing myopia, think that this is a great plan. They cheer on the NYT as it published stories that aid terrorists and costs U.S. lives in the field (after all, in their worldview, U.S. "hegemony" must be destroyed at all costs).

What they don't see, however, is that this means the end of their journalistic careers. The NYT is going down; print media is going down.

They *think* that they are upset about a few hundred layoffs each year...their dearth of raises year after year, etc.

But just wait until the paper has finally gone under the waves. Then they won't be talking about missing out on raises, but rather, on where do they find work "from here."

had to give up their raises for the year to rescue their embattled healthcare coverage

Sure missed a chance to call for free government healthcare.

Isn't calling the New York Times the "old gray lady" the same as calling a two-bit whore the same thing? It's the same difference in my book.

"two-bit whore"? I would never suggest such a thing!

A copy of the NYT probably costs twice that.
