This case had nothing to do with war crimes. This was a show trial designed to let the UN and its court flex their muscles. Milosevic frustrated their aims and almost turned their charade against them. Unless the UN and fellow travelers like Clinton wanted to be exposed as a bunch of gangsters and buffoons, he had to die, and soon. So he did.

Anyone they pick will be tainted, including anyone in Moscow.

Elements of the KLA are also responsible for post-conflict attacks on Serbs, Roma, and other non-Albanians, as well as ethnic Albanian political rivals. Immediately following NATO's arrival in Kosovo, there was widespread and systematic burning and looting of homes belonging to Serbs, Roma, and other minorities and the destruction of Orthodox churches and monasteries. This destruction was combined with harassment and intimidation designed to force people from their homes and communities. By late-2000 more than 210,000 Serbs had fled the province; most of them left in the first six weeks of the NATO deployment. Those who remained were increasingly concentrated in mono-ethnic enclaves, such as northern Mitrovica, Kosovo Polje, or Gracanica.

Thanks. As most of the material appears to be drawn up by the Human Rights Watch group I'll have to find some opinions on the quality of their reporting - how far can I trust this organization? We know that many groups, such as Amnesty International, and others who say that the Guantanamo Bay is akin to the Gulags, are not notorious for the quality or truthfulness of their reporting.

I'm not saying I doubt this source or your point in all of this, just "trust but verify".

There seems to be a significant amount of distortion on this issue, which makes the veracity of the report sources all the more important.

Well said! See previous comment, info from the same link. You just gotta know where to look!

Recall the films we all saw of people in their thousands with their pitiful belongings, fleeing? With tractors and horse-drawn carts? Didn't that tug at your heartstrings?

Turns out they were Serbs fleeing from the Nato bombing, not poor poor muslims. Hey, we weren't so savvy then, it was before 9/11...

You definately got that right.

The trial was going no where and they couldnt pin anything on him. He had issued a summon for Clinton and probably they figured it was better to get rid of him.

Slobo made buffons of that court though and I was proud of him for it. He did not give in and went down fighting.

"Hey, we weren't so savvy then, it was before 9/11..."

Makes one wonder what other things we were/are told/shown that were/are distortions or outright untruths... What a pain!

My sentiments exactly. The UN and it's wagging tail the Hague court are nothing but the dog that licks the butt of the 55 islamic nation voting block and their marxist friends.
Milosovic never had a chance, he was always destined to be either guilty or dead.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands-Former Serb leader Slobodan Milosevic was found dead in his prison cell Saturday, abruptly ending his four-year U.N. war crimes trial for orchestrating a decade of conflict that killed 250,000 people and tore the Yugoslav federation asunder. He was 64.

A leader of beguiling charm and cunning ruthlesness, the man reviled by the United States as "the butcher of the Balkans" was a hero to many Serbs despite losing four wars and impoverishing his people in the 1990s while trying to create a "Greater Serbia" linking Serbia with Serb-dominated areas of Croatia and Bosnia.
Here's hoping this slug is now Stalin's bitch in Hell.

There's not much hope of WestVirginiaRebel ever being a little more open-minded - judging from your blog. Like I said before, Judge, Jury, Hangman.

I stand by what I said. Slobbo was Stalin with a smile. The world is better off without him. Even his fellow Serbs know that.

Stalin killed his own. Milosevic didn't. Milosevic killed only those who'd been killing his.

Not to mention the fact that his "victims" calling any part of the Balkan peninsula "home" was more than reason enough for him to kill em'!

But I guess you'd have already known that if your origins were from that part of the world (namely, Greece) as mine are.

"I stand by what I said."

Of course you do. You have to. You made a statement in your blog and can hardly go back on it.

"Slobbo was Stalin with a smile."

Stalin was directly responsible for the deaths of tens, possibly hundreds of MILLIONS of people. The court at The Hague, after 4 years, had proven nothing against Milosovic.

"The world is better off without him."

That's an assumption.

"Even his fellow Serbs know that."

I don't doubt he has his detractors at home, but be so kind as to provide a link.

I guess you don't remember that his own people overthrew him.

Good Lord, what else could they do? He had caused the 'righteous' indignation of the most powerful nation in the world - they had been bombed, thousands were killed! Of course they overthrew him!

sarc.

Just look at what happened to Zoran Djinjic who was responsible for selling Slobo to the hague. He has been pushing up daisies for 3-4 years now.

I was never so ashamed of my country then during the time of Madelines war. She and Clinton were war criminals and nothing less.

A detailed look at the conflict. The Serbs were hardly "Soldiers for Christ." I swear to God, some of the Serbian defenders sound like apologists for Saddam Hussein ("Where are the bodies?" etc).

Pesky little bastards, eh? Asking all those darn questions...

Jeez, what did you expect? If I were accused of genocide, I'd be asking the very same question - WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE?
