Thanks Alas Babylon.

Wallace said - Bush is now "lame duck". Russert & Mathews said - Republicans "distance themselves" from the President to avoid defeat. Well, Proof is in the pudding.

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar(D) won his last election with 58 vote lead. He is a moderate, pro-growth, anti-tax, Bush loving democrat. Bush personally embraced him at SOTU event.

Then came the dem.primary - Club for Growth endorsed (1st time) this dem. Kos-hacks, Deaniacs, Unions, abortionists, move-on and the entire liberal dems. endorsed and funneled their money and energy into his opponent (lost last time) Ciro Rodriguez. Their main election agenda? Henry Cuellar is in Bush's pocket.

In the end, Club for Growth endorsed & Bush supporting dem. Henry Cuellar(D) won handily with increased margin, by 12 percentage points. That was a REAL POLL and Bush won his 1st 2006 election house seat through a democrat without even showing up for campaign.

Then, media was hoping for a run-off if not defeat for Tom Delay. Delay ended up winning with more than double the total of all his opponents combined. All these in the peak of media assault on the President over the port deal.

Great stuff Anita. Just proves one more time that President Bush is a moral man who says what he believes and believes what he says. I think that's at least part of what happened last week. We learned who the political hacks were and who the phonies were in our Congress. It's just my opinion but I believe that the President sees through political BS and is willing to acknowledge a man as a man or in some cases a country as it really and truly is instead of what it is stereotyped or reinvented as. It's easy to say all Arabs or Moslems see us as infidels and we should just shoot or be wary of them all, much less do business with them. But the truth is we are all individual people. Look at my religion. I am Methodist. Bill and Hillary Clinton are Methodist, if I am not mistaken so is the President. What happens if we start stereotyping all Methodists, were does that all end up? We need to wake up and see a person as a person and at times a country as a country. A Glaring example at hand of course would be Dubai/UAE. debacle. I think last week the President was able to see through all the haze, fog and BS generated by Congress and was willing to allow the UAE and even recommend their getting leases on some of our ports. Meanwhile in Congress both parties seized on the opportunity to demagogue a country,UAE,one surrounded by brutal enemies, to re-classify them as simply Arabs. They no longer were our allies in the WOT, no longer were providers of a safe haven for our ships, CIA bases and no longer were providers of valuable intel in the WOT they simply became Arabs. And worse than that we embarrassed the leader of their country in front of the entire world. I think the President saw through all that and was able to see the UAE/Dubai for what it has been to us, a loyal ally and stood firm in the midst of a Congressional sellout for political gain on both sides. This is only one reason why he continues to be my President and a great world leader. President Bush is not afraid to stand up and embrace the idea that; these people(UAE) have been our allies, friends, providers of valued intel in the WOT and he supports them. He is a man of convictions, something we desperately need in the Congress today, and I stand by his side as I urge all freepers to do as well.

There was a report today on, I think it was Real Clear Politics, why this will probably be a real good year for incumbents. Looking at the Primary results seem to bear that out. We should probably keep it to ourselves since it's so much funnier watching the in the closet Democrats try to explain why their Chicken Little pronouncements are so wrong. Of course, I also think RCP totally underestimates the Republican Congress's epic ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
