Good Monday morning, fellow political junkies...Just possibly the Senate will be a very interesting place today. Yesterday. Russ Feingold managed to stun even George Stephanopoulous when he announced that today, he would introduce in the senate, a motion to censure President Bush for engaging in "illegal" wiretaps..
Bill Frist, who followed Feingold on the show, was beside himself at Feingold's comments. However, I hope that overnight, Karl Rove reached Frist and they allow the resolution to be brought up. It will cause hell for the Dems...put many of them on the spot...similar to what the House did with Murtha's resolution to pull the troops out now.
Feingold HAS to go foward with this..he made a very public announcement of his intent on the airwaves. Freom his perspective, as the darling of the lunatic fringe, it's a good move..almost a free shot, if you will, though I expect that most Dems aren't happy with this..However, perhaps he figured the GOP would block it...not quite sure of the procedure involved..I'll ask our resident Freeper Senate parliamentarian, cboldt, to elaborate and revise and extend ..
The left/lib wacko fringe of the Dems..the activists..those who vote in primaries..will love it...along with Howard Dean...and will force Dem senators..most of who are running for President...to cosponsor this..or else..it will cause grief for Hillary especially. And I really want to hear Byrd advocating this as he runs for re-election in WV..And or course, there's our old friend, filabustering John Kerry..he'll jump all over this.(BTW..anyone see him on C-span this weekend..talking to dems in NH?..He looks, old tired, boring)...This could be another "Wellstone Memorial" type moment for the Dems..and cost them several Senate seats.
Not sure of the timing Feingold intends today. If there is first the usual period of morning business...then I expect Frist will have to address it, BEFORE Feingold pops up..
So, if you're around today, check out the Senate, and if anything exciting happens, bump the thread..
Has anyone noticed that the Dems so-call attempt to nationalize the 2006 election is degenerating into an attempt to convince the American voters that George Bish is a greater threat to them than Al Queda?..Yup, thnpat will really pass muster. IMHO, in the most significant, and LEAST commented upon statistic last week, in the vote to reauthorize the Patriot Act, in the House 66 Dems Voted for it, and 124 voted AGAINST
Flat out, I now predict that the GOP gains seats in both the House and Senate in November, and then the Dem party proceeds to tear itself apart.
FYI
Oh, this should be good...
Thanks for the thread! :)
FYI..you're up..please...can you expand your comments of what happens procedurally with this?..Thanks..
Thanks for the ping Ken!
What position will your opponents take on Conyer's impeachment resolution?
I think the Pubbies should get behind this 100% and encourage EVERY SINGLE Democrat AND Republican to go on record.
I want lots of air time, footage and sound bites ... all for future use.
All committee work should be suspended until ALL senators have spoken their thoughts into the Record.
Thanks for the thread, ken. Do we know what time the Senate convenes?

yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn. How did the seeds come out in the NCAA?
PING...
Speaking of that jerk Murtha... while we're all waiting around I'm shamelessly promoting his soon-to-be-officially announced opponent - Diana Irey.
I don't live in PA, but this ticked off veteran will be actively supporting Ms. Irey.
Bump for later...
10:00 am..(read the whole header..LOL)
My sources tell me that Feingold will also demand that the Senate investigate how the Cincinnatti Bearcats got left out of the Dance..
I would encourage the DemocRATs to stick together and keep Howard Dean through the 2008 elections! :)
I agree with your statement that we will pick up seats because some of the opinions I see on here of the 'sky is falling' are not from Freepers that understand politics is local. Dean, Ms. Clinton, her hubby, Kennedy, Kerry, and now Feingold are our best weapons to register more Republicans and win more seats -- want them to keep right on with their remarks.
So? I live in NYS. Since when has a little residency problem ever bothered the Dems? :)
...but this ticked off veteran will be actively supporting Ms. Irey.
Ms. Irey and Mr. Swann :)
HEY, dont be jumpin on my bandwagon without proper attribution, dude!
Pukin has been saying this for months now.
ROTFLMAO!
