Democrats sharpened their attack yesterday on President Bush's warrantless surveillance of Americans, with a liberal senator introducing a censure resolution and party leaders showing a willingness to debate the matter.
Some party strategists, however, worried that voters will see the move as overreaching partisanship, and Republicans pounced, practically daring Democrats to vote for the measure. "The big question now," said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.), "is how many of his Democrat colleagues will follow him over the cliff?"

Don Quiote had a better chance with the windmills
He was flooded with mail. Not such a good plan Russ. Just getting his base ready for primary season. Plus, another bad Bush story in the press just keeps the lie alive for the left.
Let 'em, in fact I think Rats should run on the impeach Bush platform in '06 and '08.

Yes, I guess when Al Zawahiri is hiding in the US, we wouldn't want to listen in on his conversation with Bin Laden (/sarcasm, but not a joke)
"An FBI informant testified Monday in Sacramento federal court that al-Qaidas second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahri, lived in Lodi during parts of 1998 and 1999. Naseem Khan, who is a critical prosecution witness in the trials of two Lodi men charged with having terrorist ties, testified he was living in Lodi in 1998 and 1999 and "every time I would go to the mosque (al-Zawahri) would be coming or going" from the mosque. Yuhp, he is running for President.
President Bush signed his McCain-Fiengold into law, and now the dirty 'Rat is turning on him.
The blame for this "tangled web" lies solely on the shoulders of the President. You don't lead by doing everything you can to "get along". Bush 43 didn't learn a thing from his dad, Bush 41, either. Remember "read my lips ..."? And the 'Rats forced Bush 41 to raise taxes. Then they rubbed his nose in it during the following campaign against Clinton.
You don't beat 'Rats by "getting along" and being a "nice" and "decent" man. You lead. And you lead with principle, not appeasement.
Fiengold can yammer away for all I care. Let President Bush defend himself for a change.
the more he yammers the better we look, stupidity knows no bounds
I agree. In fact, the more closely we can tie them to dim-witted ideas like this, and associations with groups like move-on.org or A.N.S.W.E.R., the better.
Go for it dems.
Vote on it! Now!
Not if they go unchallenged. Never over estimate the average voter.
"You don't beat 'Rats by "getting along" and being a "nice" and "decent" man. You lead. And you lead with principle, not appeasement."
You lead by hammering the enemy into the ground...or perhaps by crushing him, seeing him driven before you, and hearing the lamentations of his women and tofu-chomping girly men.
I had NPR on for a few minutes this afternoon before I switched stations, and I think I heard someone on All Things Considered doing a story on Feingold's censure resolution. The reporter's position seemed to be that Bush was violating people's rights, but that the Senate was so "politicized" that it was doubtful that the censure resolution would come up for a vote.
What he didn't explain, I don't think, is that it was the Democrats who were blocking it.
Thank you, Mr. Feingold. You're doing just fine. Keep it up. As a Republican, I appreciate the fact that your political games continue to benefit us. When you're ready to be hung out to dry, I have a brand new rope with your name on it.
What a putz. Does he think all of WI is like that pinko hellhole Madison?
Yeah, I want them to pull out all the stops to please their dope smoking, entitlement whining, vote fraud base because I'm holding my breath for the possibility of one more SCOTUS appointment like the last two. That's W's legacy that will help us keep this nation alive and competitive for a long long time. Other Presidents and Congresses will have to bring spending and government size under control, and will have a better chance of it with the SCOTUS made now.
