It's Time To Forget September 11th (Barf Alert)
The Free Liberal ^ | March 15 2006 | Jonathan David Morris

Posted on 03/15/2006 1:07:33 AM PST by jmc1969

It’s time to forget September 11th.

That’s right. You heard me.

It’s time to push it out of our minds.

You can hoot and holler all you want about this concept. You can say I’m anti-American. You can even accuse me of spitting on the memories of all those who died. But you would miss the point of what I’m about to say here, because this has nothing to do with the heroes or victims, and nothing to do with politics.

This has to do with us.

At this point, that’s all 9/11 is: Just one crazy day that happened four and a half years ago. It sucked, but we can’t change it. We shouldn’t let it change the American dream.

Look around, and you’ll find the only thing America’s confident in anymore is its military. Take that away—take the pageantry, the yellow ribbons, and the thanks to “our men and women serving abroad” before sporting events—and it’s clear that we think we have nothing to offer. We’ve grown soft in the era of get-rich-quick McDonald’s lawsuits. Our culture is vacuous, and our belief in it is missing. Even the best stuff we have—like our colleges—are too busy being reviled to be respected and enjoyed.

Actually the title is misleading. Read the whole article. He says:

"We should never forget September 11th happened. And we should never forget the lessons of the carnage that it caused. But just because 3,000 people died four and a half years ago doesn’t mean we should stop believing in the power of what we believe."

Don't agree with everything he writes, but it's not really what the title implies.

If ever you wanted to know how liberals think.

He sounds like a clue-less, free trading, globalist, one worlder; a socialist just like our President.

I like this part:

We’ve grown soft in the era of get-rich-quick McDonald’s lawsuits. Our culture is vacuous, and our belief in it is missing. Even the best stuff we have—like our colleges—are too busy being reviled to be respected and enjoyed.

I blame September 11th for all of this."

Sure blame 9/11 for our predatory legal system, or our lack of competitiveness. Lets ignore the tremendous subsidies and advantages used most of our trading partners to undermine and destroy our economic system. Lets ignore our own over bearing regulatory system. 9/11 awaken a new natonalist movement within our shores; but, to this moron, our growing awareness of our failed policies are magically transformed into the cause of those very policies.

The author's logic runs like this: You awaken and felt pain, therefore you must have given yourself the hotfoot, since the situation did not exist before you awakened. Something in the process of your awakening placed and ignited that match; so it is important to try to remain asleep.

I want to take this stupid moonbat up to the 104th floor of the World Trade Center, up to Cantor Fitzgerald's trading floor. It's 8:47 a.m. on 9/11, and the building just stopped rocking and the light fixtures and ceiling tiles have just quit raining down. People are screaming and running around, but there's no smoke just yet. The last elevator to safety is long gone, it's history.

Now, how was that again, you stupid m***********?

Yes, by all means, let's go back to picking daisies and forget all that nasty terrorism stuff. That way, when we're completely analiated we at least can say we enjoyed our last days. Oh wait, if that happens we won't be able to say anything!

This is exactly why you can never allow these people near the reins of power.

This guy is a moron, he forgets American ingenuity is still alive and well. A group of determined engineers beat NASA's ass developing a reliable spaceplane.

We are still the most freedom loving nation on earth. I can own as many guns as I can afford. Unlike most other parts of the globe I can spout "all muslims are terrorists" and deny the holocaust all I want (I don't by the way) and no one can send me to prison for it.

Unlike this idiot who says all we have going for us is our military might, I still am proud of many things about the USA.

This guy just doesn't get that those same people that provide all the tangibles that make this country great also, when necessary, provide the armies that provide and ensure our ideals prevail in defense of ourselves and at times others around the world. He acts like 9/11 was a singular, solitary incident that is unlikely to ever happen again. I guess with his logic of forgetting every attack after four years, it stands to reason why he couldn't remember the 1993 bombing or the USS Cole, etc...if those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, what do those that intentially try to forget it get? What they deserve I guess...

I knew how liberals felt about 9/11, when the media made it absolutely clear that they were going to purge every image of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon by 9/14--no clips, no stills, no nothing. And all because they were concerned about fostering hate against Muslims....

Great one!

Unfortunately those who choose to forget history are condemned to repeat it over, and over, and over.

I have often said that there are many libs out there who don't see beyond themselves. They don't understand sacrifice, or are unwilling to stay the course to preserve freedom.

These people are short sighted, and should never be trusted as leaders.

Actually the title is misleading. Read the whole article.

The title is his first sentence. They're his own words. Yeah, he's doing it for shock value. He asked for it, he's getting it.

But just because 3,000 people died four and a half years ago doesn’t mean we should stop believing in the power of what we believe."

From reading the rest of the article, I can only guess that what he believes in is the power of open borders and free trade. He devotes the most space to bitching about the lack of those.

The most interesting part of the article is the paragraph at the very bottom:

Jonathan David Morris is a political writer -- and sometimes satirist -- based in Pennsylvania. A strong believer in small government, JDM often takes aim at oppressive taxes, entitlements, and laws, writing about incompetence at the highest levels of culture and government. Catch his weekly ramblings at readjdm.com.

I'm not exactly sure what he is, and not sure I want to devote a lot of time to finding out, but he's not exactly a liberal.

It sickens me to think that in one moment, those people in those towers were vibrant, living souls and in the next moment they were crushed and ground into minute bits and pieces by thousands of tons of falling steel and concrete, all because a group of crazed islamists wanted to make a political point.

It sickens me even more to think that anyone would advocate that day, and by extension those people, be forgotten.
