HARRISBURG - The man charged with homicide in his girlfriend's fatal fall from the window of his 23d-floor apartment was released after posting bail yesterday, and he apologized to her family. "I'm so, so sorry for what happened," Kevin P. Eckenrode, 25, said after a judge set bail at $200,000. Eckenrode is a press aide with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, although he has been suspended without pay.
He has told police he was dangling Rachel M. Kozlusky, 23, from the window Feb. 25 during drunken horseplay when he lost his grip. Fran Chardo, Dauphin County first assistant district attorney, said investigators had not turned up evidence to support first- or second-degree murder charges, making Eckenrode eligible for release on bail. He is charged with general criminal homicide. - AP
If he is not telling the truth he should fry...
But stories like this are causing me to re-consider the safety of this activity. Oh well, we can still play William Tell ...
A 23rd floor apartment????
Thats not horseplay... that... is just stupid. Drunk or not. Man, ive been out of commission in my time, but never did I feel the urge to dangle people out of windows... maybe a black eye or two... but going all michael jackson with baby on a person... its.. crazy
Democrat appointee to the area of the Gov's cash cow.
Only in Pennsylvainia is it possible to consent to being thrown out of a 23'rd floor window.
This guy works for the PA gaming commission so who is suprised that he is getting off.
I have always considered drunkenly dangling my girlfriend out the window of my 23rd floor apartment to be just harmless fun.
Well you're just sick. I'd never dangle my girlfriend any higher than the 18th floor. I think we all know that if you want to exceed 18 floors, you have to at least make her your fiance, and really, she ought to be your wife. There's a special place in hell for folks like you.
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
"He has told police he was dangling Rachel M. Kozlusky, 23, from the window Feb. 25 during drunken horseplay when he lost his grip."
23 stories up? Who does this? I didn't think buildings that tall had windows you could open that wide. I've never seen one that did, and I live in the big city.
"although he has been suspended without pay."
Once he gets out of jail, he'll have his wages reinstated, WITH BACK PAY.
Ah, he only works there cause a rlative gave him the job. No nepotism, though, you see.
I can't figure out who is the most stupid one here.....the one doing the dangling, or the one that wnated to be dangled?
"suspended without pay"
Irony or a very bad pun?
He will sue for wages because the death occurred on personal time.
"Nit-witism" in America is a growing disorder. It is probably contagious. A study should be undertaken soon by the CDC before 'dangling' gets out of hand. Nit-wits are reversed 'whiz-bangs' and can be treated if discovered early.
You know, it was a scene very much like this, involving Lee Marvin, that made Ronald Reagan a huge movie star.
It's called being a bully.
