LONGMONT A state effort to reconcile discrepancies between drivers license information and Social Security information already has led to the cancellation of 2,000 Colorado licenses.
Tens of thousands more Coloradans wont be able to renew their licenses until they fix their records.
Over the past two years and in batches, the DMV has run more than 4 million state licenses in its database against Social Security Administration data. In January, the DMV started the enforcement stage, sending multiple warning letters to 53,000 state residents...

Way overdue, but absolutely necessary...
It's only a matter of when and how.
How mean of them to enforce the law and prevent fraud. /s
No halba "identity theft", amigo...
Hahahaha I love it. That this kind of thing took this long to be a priority illustrates exactly what is wrong with a government that wants expand into new areas of our lives while not even handling the tasks it does control with any credibility.
This type of reasoning is absolutely irrational, delusional and, after dealing with it in the muslim-sandmaggot environment, toally ineffective.
Just imagine that rapists start arguing that we act "mean" by opposing, arresting and punishing them?
How about burglars? They are just trying to feed their families...
How about bank robbers?
How about people who drive without insurance?
About ten or fifteen years ago I drove my pal down to the DMV in Northglenn or Thornton so he could get his license back. The line was interminable, mainly because there were dozens upon dozens of Spanish-speaking people getting driver's licenses ahead of us. I watched as many of them had family members (mostly children) translate the conversation between the applicant and the clerk. So very many of these people could not even speak English, yet they were getting driver's licenses. I was curious so I even stood by the counter to see if this was going on. They were receiving driver's licenses, not id cards or immigrant licenses. I was too young to say anything at the time, but now I would question someone in command at the DMV how this was possible. I very much like Mexicans and other immigrants, and think they are a wonderful addition to the melting pot, but I think there was fraudulent license awarding occuring, how else could these people pass a written test and get a license without speaking English? These were mostly new immigrants, and they could easily get licenses no problemo. My hunch was that it was a simple Occam's razor explanation - money was involved. Anyone else care to comment, or have a similar experience in Colorado?
Is the DMV going to be paying my retirement? If not, what's with the legal requirement for my Identity Theft Number, anyway? After all, the number "Shall not be used for identification."
In Mexico, you have to prove that you're a Mexican citizen or legal resident to obtain a drivers' license........
This will effectively purge illegals from the voting rolls. If it catches on nationwide Democrat vote numbers have to go doewn pretty drastically. This is what all the crying is about. It is definitely an anti-Democrat measure and it is anti Latino only in that Latinos make up the greatest share of the illegal population and have the most fraudulently obtained DLs.
Well, as to the particular point of needing to speak English to have a driver's liscence...I know that it did not require my knowing more than a smidgen of the local languages in order to drive just fine.
You gave your proper SS number to the dmv people?
I suspect that you are right.
I have no problem with someone not speaking English, so long as they either pass the test in English or, like me in a foreign country, am allowed to drive as a tourist for a very limited amount of time...
In all fairness, they allow me to drive with my California driver's license as a tourist.
But I always make sure I have Mexican short term insurance... Anyone not doing so is an ignorant idiot.
It's insane, but that is exactly what their charge is:
Excerpt from article, " Where is it helping the people of Colorado to have people driving without drivers licenses? said Rusty Denham, a caseworker for Centro Amistad in Boulder. Its crazy to pretend. Its about people who have the unrealistic expectation that, by being mean, theyll make people go back to Mexico.
Another interesting fact, buried way down in the article.
For a while there, the clerks at that insurance office off the 805 (H Street exit?) knew me by sight.....
What I should have said is that you can drive in Mexico with a US license, but they won't issue a Mexican license unless you prove that you are in Mexico legally.
