Conservative Weapon Of Mass Destruction
American Conservative Union | 3 16 2006 | J. William Lauderback

Dear Robert:

Conservatives in Congress have an ATOMIC BOMB that could literally wipe out liberals in the 2006 elections.

But Republican Leaders and RINOs in Congress are STOPPING THEM FROM PUSHING THE BUTTON!

That's RIGHT -- "Republicans!"

Of course, I'm talking about the Contract with America: Renewed which was produced by Representatives Mike Pence and Jeb Hensarling of the Republican Study Committee.

If you haven't heard about the Contract with America: Renewed -- I'm not surprised. Liberals, the media and EVEN SOME REPUBLICAN LEADERS want to keep it under wraps!

Why?

Because the Contract with America: Renewed actually KEEPS the promises the Republican majority made to conservatives over a decade ago -- and advances our kind of bold conservative agenda!

Now, you would think that Republican Members of Congress would be running over each other to be among the first to sign on to a legislative agenda that harkens back to Newt Gingrich's original Contract with America of 1994 that gave Republicans control of Congress for the first time in over 40 years!

Right?

Wrong!

Sadly, Republican legislators are hiding under their desks -- quivering with fear!

And even though the Contract with America: Renewed has over 100 Congressmen behind it, Washington gossip indicates that Pence was outright TOLD that the Contract with America: Renewed would be marked DEAD ON ARRIVAL!

But if you join with me RIGHT NOW and take action -- WE CAN DECLARE CONSERVATIVE INDEPENDENCE TODAY!

Use the hyperlink below to send your urgent and personalized Blast Fax messages to President George W. Bush, Representatives Mike Pence and Jeb Hensarling of the Republican Study Committee, ALL 55 Republican Members of the Senate and the Republican Leadership of the House of Representatives.

Remind these key 66 leaders that Republicans did not come to power over ten years ago because people simply preferred the Republican Party but because they endorsed the values of the American people as stated in the first "Contract with America."

Tell them to keep the promises made to the people in 1994. Warn them that if they don’t make the Contract with America: Renewed their legislative agenda, they’ll be out of power this time next year.

It's Not Just About Fiscal Policy: It's About A Bold Conservative Agenda

If you've heard about the Contract with America: Renewed, you've probably heard a lot of talk about fiscal policy and proposals to balance the federal budget in a matter of years.

And restraining fiscal spending is a noble goal.

But the reason you're hearing so much about the fiscal aspects of the Contract of America: Renewed is because if you knew the real explosive conservative potential of the Contract with America: Renewed -- if you knew how many liberal "sacred cows" the Contract with America: Renewed slaughters -- you would be shouting to the four winds to have it passed!

The Contract with America: Renewed is a return to core conservative principles.

Here's some of what the Washington elites don't want you to know is contained in the Contract with America: Renewed:

"Eliminate the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. CPB, which receives $400 million annually from Congress, funds 15% of the Public Broadcasting Service’s annual budget... CPB and PBS continue to use federal funding to pay for questionable programming, such as a documentary on sex education promoted and partially paid for by the Playboy Foundation."

"Eliminate the National Endowment for the Humanities. The NEH funds humanities programs and initiatives through grants to various entities. As with the NEA, the general public benefits very little from NEA, and it could be funded through private donations."

"Eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts. The NEA funds art programs and initiatives through grants to various entities. In 2001, America spent $27 billion on non-profit arts funding: $11.5 billion from the private sector; $14 billion in earned income (tickets sales, etc.); and $1.3 billion in combined federal, state, and local public support (of which $105 million was from the NEA—0.4% of total non-profit arts funding). The [arts should] be funded completely through private donations, and the federal role eliminated."

In plain English that means YOUR tax dollars will no longer fund:

NEA funded obscene "art" that shows crucifixes suspended in urine or women smearing syrup on their naked bodies while shouting obscenities or actors dressed like priests sodomizing other men on-stage.

PBS funded smearing of Christianity, traditional values and the promotion of deviant sexual behavior.

NEH sponsorship of “history standards” that call for a politically correct rewriting of the past to promote a far-left agenda and indoctrinate our youth.

We have a chance to slaughter all three of these "sacred cows" in a single appropriations bill!

But That's Not All

The ELIMINATION of PBS, the NEA and the NEH is just a starting point. Here's some more of what is contained in the Contract with America: Renewed:

"Eliminate Title X Family Planning. Established in 1970, the program was created to distribute contraception to the poor to help curb the population... Despite approximately $5 billion spent on the Title X program since its inception, the U.S. population did rise to approximately 300 million people in 2005 (up from 203 million in 1970), and the catastrophic predictions made to justify this program have proven false. According to the General Accountability Office, Planned Parenthood Federation of America and its affiliates spent $58.7 million federal Title X dollars in FY 2001..."

"Eliminate the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) was established by the Legal Services Corporation Act of 1974 to provide free legal assistance to the poor in civil, non-criminal matters... Instead of focusing on this core mission, the LSC has assisted lawyers and groups engaged in lobbying, advocacy of political causes, and litigation against the federal government."

"Open ANWR for Exploration. This budget assumes that a small portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska will be leased for oil and gas exploration, development, and production... Leasing could provide significant revenues to the Treasury, jobs to the U.S. economy, and a valuable domestic energy resource to offset the current transfer of U.S. wealth to other nations. This portion of the provision reflects gross receipts."

"Reduce Funding for U.N. Peacekeeping Operations. The United States is the largest financial contributor to the U.N. peacekeeping budget... U.N. peacekeepers have been involved in a litany of scandals. In 2002 and 2003, Human Rights Watch accused peacekeepers in Sierra Leone of systematically raping women. In 2005, peacekeeping staff ran up more than $500,000 in unpaid international calls. Currently, peacekeepers stand accused in the Democratic Republic of Congo of widespread sexual exploitation of refugees. According to recent press reports, waste is rampant: The UN paid $10.4 million to lease a helicopter in East Timor when it could have been secured for $1.6 million, $2.4 million to buy aircraft hangers in Congo that were never used, and roughly $193 million in fraudulent contracts (nearly 20 percent of the $1 billion in contracts that were examined). This proposal would reduce funding for U.N. peacekeeping operations by 50 percent."

"Eliminate Federal Subsidies for Amtrak. Amtrak’s model for providing intercity rail service has been a failure since it began service in 1971. Historically, it has carried less than 1% of the traveling public... This budget proposes to reduce and eventually end over 30 years of taxpayer subsidization of a failed government monopoly."

Thomas Jefferson once wrote: "To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical."

Jefferson defined precisely what is wrong with government funding of Planned Parenthood, the Legal Services Corporation, and United Nations graft and corruption.

Passage of the Contract with America: Renewed would curtail federal involvement in these programs and begin to right some long-standing wrongs.

But the programs mentioned above ONLY SCRATCH THE SURFACE. There's plenty of "red meat" in the Contract with America: Renewed for folks like you and me -- space simply prohibits mentioning it ALL!

That's why this measure must be passed!

We're Not The Only Ones Saying It!

At the press conference announcing the new Contract, Congressman John Shadegg -- who voted for the Contract in 1994 – warned the GOP against failing to support this measure:

“[V]irtually every Republican in Congress was elected on a promise to curb government growth and spending. It is time to keep that promise.”

What the Republicans have to realize is that if these promises are not kept -- they will become the minority party in Congress in 2006.

Conservative and patriotic Americans have given them over a decade to keep those long-forgotten promises and patience is wearing thin.

In fact, the latest Fox News Opinion Dynamics poll is already showing that ominous trend.

It reported that only 34 percent of respondents plan to vote for a Republican in the upcoming Congressional midterm elections.

It’s time to tell so-called Republican leaders in the House and Senate to stop acting like Teddy Kennedy and Hillary Clinton and Barney Frank and start to keep the promises they made to conservatives.

It's time to tell them that YOU are demanding they support the Contract with America: Renewed.

Let's do it RIGHT NOW!

We need to clone Reagan and put him back in the White House!

The thought is almost enough to make me reconsider my distaste for the notion of human cloning.

But if someone is too poor to afford condoms, I don't want them raising children. That is not the group that needs to be encouraged to have kids.

I never said anything about ENCOURAGING them to have children. I am, however, STRONGLY opposed to government directed attempts at population control no matter what the stated reason. Instead of government sponsored programs aimed at preventing child birth, welfare reform is a better approach. (Reform aimed at ending the victim/entitlement mentality)

"And do we really want poor people having more children?"

What the he!!? Are you saying that only people that have a certain income should have children?!!!!!!!

This statement of yours is frightening.

My father came from a family of eleven siblings. They didn't have a lot of money but what they did have was faith in God and love for one another. They all became successful God fearing people who contributed to this society in a big way.

Be careful about what you say and the implications such a statement presents.

Just part of an overall opposition to government directed social engineering. I am an Engineer by trade by my hobby is studying the rise and fall of civilizations. British historian Lord Acton is a favorite of mine. I see government directed social engineering as a slow journey towards totalitarianism. In 1944 Friedrich A. Hayek wrote a book called "The Road to Serfdom" which pointed out that the western "Social Democracies" were headed down the same path to serfdom that Nazi Germany traveled, but at a slower pace. It was more than 60 years ago that he wrote the book and I am afraid we are still on the same "Road" but have accelerated the pace.

I knew it was cold blooded when I said it.
But seriously, if somebody can't afford condoms how are they possibly going to raise a child in todays cost structure? Either the child will suffer or the taxpayers will pay to make sure he doesn't suffer.

Giving contraceptives to the poor isn't just about helping them - it's about helping everybody.

I understand, now thank you. For myself, I find giving the choice of free contraception to not be over the line on social engineering but I sympathize with your viewpoint.

I hear you, the problem is not income but attitude. My mother came from a poor family with 10 children. Her father was completely illiterate but he found a way to provide for his family. The older children all pitched in and helped. In those days personal responsibility, self reliance and dignity meant something.

Oh please. How much are a box of condoms? Not to mention in a free society people have a right to reproduce regardless of their income level. It is the give away programs that need to be slashed. It is these programs that allow people to shrug their responsibilities. They learn to lean on the state and perpetuate it. Take those programs away and watch how quickly people become self sufficient.

Let's assume you are right and the program should be ended. That is not at all like the first contract with America that so invigorated young conservatives and got a pseudo balanced budget passed...

Where is Newt when you need him?

The problem with above approach is that it reinforces the notion that one's actions have no consequences. It also reinforces the notion that the government is there to protect us from the consequences of our own actions. In the long run, it will only aggravate the very problem it seeks to remedy. We are suffering a multitude of social ills because of such notions.

A free society can only survive when its citizens posses the moral discipline needed to keep that society together without excessive government intervention. When that moral discipline breaks down, government steps in. The problem is that it does so in a way that further erodes that moral discipline. The result is a vicious cycle that leads to serfdom and slavery. Most government directed social initiatives are undertaken with little or no understanding of the long term consequences of such an approach.

Agreed, but it is a lot better than anything that the GOP is up to at the moment. I intend to support the effort and give some input has to how we may "tweak" it.

There is a time element to consider. If two teens are going to have sex and they don't have contraception the consequences last a lifetime.

We have cut teen pregnancy rate in half in this country through eduation and teen pregnancy. To me that's worth it.

A small amount of intervention versus an unwanted and unafforable bady or an abortion.

Fine.. but what happens when the democrats gain a majority..
America has big government republicans elected because America wants big government republicans elected.. else they would choose small government republicans.. America is becoming more not less socialist..

Could be because academia has become re-education camps for the leftist worldview.. for a long time now.. And most elected leaders have been re-educated.. Allowing academia to run Propaganda Centers(colleges) with training in Agitprop has to have its downside.. RINOs are the price..

Denial about this costs.. It costs in suggestions for a majic fix.. like stated above.. Repeat: Americans have democrats and RINOs elected to positions of power especially federal power because thats what they want.. If it were not so it wouldnt be.. Ockhams Razor demands faceing the denial.. Our schools are training socialists.. Not expecting socialists to be elected is denial.. Heck few know today that socialism is merely a symptom of democracy and America has remnants and a reputation of being a republic but in fact is a defact a democracy.. and that socialism is slavery by government.. Democracy is the social disease and socialism is merely a symptom..

Even FR has a fair amount of socialists(RINOs).. which are in fact confused democrats..

Given that one of the major problems facing developed countries is declining populations,

The United States certainly does not have that problem. We have grown by about 20 million in the last decade (half illegally) and we are on track to grow by almost 50% by the year 2050 where our population is expected to increase from 300 million to 450 million.

Here is a link to the actual contract, which is what the Republican Study Committee is calling its proposed 2007 budget:
http://www.house.gov/pence/rsc/doc/RSC_2007_BUDGET.pdf

I am sure that when election season heats up, it will be tweaked to deal with issues not strictly related to the budget. (Like ensuring that Congress lives by the same rules that the rest of us do)

This would be why I am now a Conservativge first, and vote Repub when it suits me.

Good approach.

I just e-mailed my rep, & my up for re-ellection senator.

If they get behind this 100%, I'll vote for them.

If they don't, I won't. really quite simple.

Of course, I'm still not sending them any money.

That is true for the most part, but it did not stop Newt and company in 1994 from running on a solid platform. We may not be successful running on a platform to immediately restore constitutional government, but I think that we could have some success with a campaign similar to the 1994 one. Part of the problem is putting forward visionary leadership that can sell our vision. Like I said, I do not expect them to immediately restore constitutional government, but I would like to see them at least propose incremental steps in the right direction. If we can not even get the direction right, what is the point in wasting time on politics?

[ If we can not even get the direction right, what is the point in wasting time on politics? ]

Three words.. democrat voter fraud.. Our republican leaders could care less about massive democrat voter fraud.. Ensuring more not less of it.. 1994 was a good year.. probably the last year anything could be done.. But immediately Clinton was elected.. TWICE.. To think this WILL NOT happen again is obscene denial..

It WILL happen again.. three words.. Oh! I've said that.. Plus republican denial.. Republicans generally are in massive denial.. In 1994 big government republican would have been a joke of compiracists.. but it has become the NORM.. Real republicans have become republic'osaurs.. even on FR..

To change anything denial must be faced.. The republican party has been penetrated by democrats.. and most would vote for a RINO as IF that RINO was not a defacto democrat.. a stealth democrat..

The democrats greatest weapon is republican denial of the truth about republicans.. all the while accuseing the democrats of what the republican party is NOW DOING..
