Document: Afghani Taliban Consul Spoke of a Relationship Between Iraq and Bin Laden See Translation
Pentagon: Pre-War Iraq documents ^ | March/16/06 | jveritas

Posted on 03/16/2006 7:44:29 AM PST by jveritas

The documents of pre-war Iraq were published this morning on the Pentagon website, I did a quick search and I found a very interesting document written in Arabic and not yet translated to English. I did the translation and I found the following:

This document is a letter written by a member of Saddam Intelligence apparatus (Al Mukabarat) on 9/15/2001 (shortly after 9/11/2001) where he addressed it to someone higher up and he wrote about a conversation between an Iraqi intelligence source and a Taliban Afghani Consul. In the conversation the Afghani Consul spoke of a relationship between Iraq and Osama Bin Laden prior to 9/11/2001, and that the United States was aware of such a relationship and that there is a potential of US strikes against Iraq and Afghanistan if the destructive operations in the US (most probably he is referring to 9/11 attacks) were proven to be connected to Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban.

Below is a translation from Arabic to English of CMPC-2003-001488 document that was posted on Pentagon Website regarding the pre-war Iraq documents. (http://fmso.leavenworth.army.mil/products-docex.htm#iraq).

Text of the document in English translated from Arabic.

In the Name of God the Merciful

Presidency of the Republic

Intelligence Apparatus

To the respectful Mr. M.A.M

Subject: Information

Our source in Afghanistan No 11002 (for information about him see attachment 1) provided us with information that that Afghani Consul Ahmad Dahestani (for information about him see attachment 2) told him the following:

1. That Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban in Afghanistan are in contact with Iraq and it that previously a group from Taliban and Osama Bin Laden group visited Iraq.

2. That America has proof that the government of Iraq and Osama Bin Laden group have shown cooperation to hit target within America.

3. That in case it is proven the involvement of Osama Bin Laden group and the Taliban in these destructive operations it is possible that American will conduct strikes in Iraq and Afghanistan.

4. That the Afghani Consul heard about the subject of Iraq relation with Osama Bin Laden group during his stay in Iran.

5. In light of this we suggest to write to the Commission of the above information.

Please view… Yours… With regards

You need to be sure you download the original document.

Things have been known to disappear shortly after they are brought to attention.

Not true. The Prez and Vice Pres both emphasized Saddam's links to terror groups. Just not to 9-11 specifically, like the left CONSTANTLY says they did.

I agree. The information from these documents have to be blared from the house tops. I was confident all along that once these documents were translated Bush's case for war would be vindicated and we would discover a Saddam-Al Qaeda connection. The Bush administration HAS TO get this information out and vindicate itself. Sure the media will turn up their vile noses and the Democrats will nay-say it, but when you're down this far in the polls what do you have to lose?

It said the documents have NOT been authenticated.

In that case, send it to CBS.

"If the MSM can be convinced that the documents are somehow related to global warming, they'll reprint them without question."

Or if the documents somehow implicate Wal Mart, Dick Cheney or Big Oil, then the MSM will be all over them.

Not true. The Prez and Vice Pres both emphasized Saddam's links to terror groups.

I'd have to reread the record. You are saying that the President and VP recited that Iraq and Osama bin Laden were associated?

In the conversation the Afghani Consul spoke of a relationship between Iraq and Osama Bin Laden prior to 9/11/2001, and that the United States was aware of such a relationship ...

To me, that is somewhat different from "Saddam's links to terror groups," in that it has a certain "precision" about it. Not only a personal precision, but also a timing precision. Not only that, the full text of the translated letter includes a premonition that teh US might attack Iraq as a result of this precise "fact."

At least once a week I see a letter to the editor in our local, small newspaper that Bush lied about the Iraq/AQ connections.

If the Bush WH and Ken Mehlman don't make commercials about this and have meetings with Republican Congressmen to give them talking points, they don't understand the importance of a good PR campaign.

And freepers should lead the charge, imo.

After the impeachment of Clinton, House Impeachment managers gave a party for freepers which was shown on C-Span. They thanked us for our activism and we should get in there and make the push on this matter as well.

It's vital.

Thank you SO much for doing this ... there must be a goldmine of information in there that the Rats and the MSM will just obfuscate and hush up. How does this info get out in the general public without the MSM? Does the Pentagon have a plan to make this a major ongoing news story that gets blasted out there?

Thank you very much for the nice compliments. It was just a little effort for me to do the translation of this document. The great efforts and sacrifice are being done by our brave troops.

God bless our troops.

But it's going to be really hard to convince me that the links were strong enough to justify taking over the entire country, spending hundreds of billions and killing so very many people.

Just because Saddam was providing training to include an airliner for practice does not mean he was actually supporting an attack. The airliner was for practice in evacuating terrorists in case the airliner didn't crash./Sarc

It was all about safety you know.

The president needs to go on national television and give a fireside chat, not a new conference, in which he details the evidence. He needs to sink the RATS now before it is too late. If they take the House, we are going to have impeachment hearings. Those b*st*rds do no care if it hurts the country.

I agree. Anyone at all educated on the matter knows there is extensive evidence that Saddam and Al Qaeda worked together. The idiots who claim otherwise just repeat the talking points they get from Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi without ever having looked into it for themselves. Heck, even the chairman of the 9-11 Commission cited Saddam's connections to Al Qaeda and those ties are outlined in the appendix of the 9-11 Commission report (the media misreports this saying no such ties were found, but it was the connection to 9-11 itself they found little evidence of, not ties to Al Qaeda itself.) Anyway, these spouters like those who write to your local paper are worse than zombies because at least zombies became such involuntarily. These people are willingly duped.

Anyway, I am going to write a letter to the editor soon about the Saddam-Al Qaeda connections. By the way, pick up Stephen Hayes' book "The Connection" to learn of the extent of Saddam's ties to Al Qaeda. It's a must-read.

They said Saddam had communications with Al Quaeda, not Osama specifically, though I do recall someone in the administration pointing out that Iraqi agents visited Afghanistan.

The whole reason that the WMD was given prominence, as you know, is because we were after UN approval, and there was a long record of non-compliance. Turned out to be a futile effort, thanks to Chirac. But it mattered not to GWB, thank God.

Today our troops are on the largest air mission since the beginning of the Iraq war (3/03).

Many prayers for all of them for their safety. Godspeed.

How come these people do not care about how many Saint Saddam killed? They have bleeding hearts for the "People" we killed but what Saint Saddam did, who cares. I have co-worker who thinks Saddam is a "great guy". Sick.

Ditto that.

Also call Ken Mehlman and encourage him to make a commercial about some of the more pertinent portions of these tapes:
