Choeng Wa Dae Official Confesses to Killing Wife
A public service officer working at Cheong Wa Dae has strangled his wife, a public information officer for the Uri Party, to death, Seoul Dongdaemun police said Friday. Police said the suspect confessed to the crime and will be indicted for murder once his motive has been established.
According to the police, the woman was found dead in a car parked in a neighborhood in Jeonnong-dong, Seoul on Friday morning. Police suspected murder because there were signs of strangulation around her neck.
The body was found by a traffic warden. Police quoted the man as saying he went to the car to tell the driver to move it because it was illegally parked. Since she did not respond and the car was locked from inside, he thought she was sleeping. But she did not move an inch for an hour, and I suspected that there must be something wrong so I reported to police, the warden was quoted as saying.
On reviewing CCTV tapes of the apartment building where the woman lived, police found that she went out at around 1 a.m. with her husband, who returned home alone. This raised suspicions that he killed her.
The incident has shocked Cheong Wa Dae, which considering its seriousness reported it to President Roh Moo-hyun. It also delivered a blow to the ruling Uri Party, where the victim worked.
386-ers, those of his generation (between mid 30's and early 40's), are know in S. Korean society for complete intolerance, black/white world view, and blinding rage when they cannot get their way. If you get into argument with them, they usually blew up. Unlimited sense of sanctimony and self-righteousness. Their ends completely justify their means.
As such, many are ticking timebombs. This couple must be such a case. The hubby was reportedly having an affair. They fought. They drove out to cool down. However, a fight broke out again. This time, the wife yelled, "I will kill you." In response, he took out his necktie and strangle her with it, according to his confession to police. A pretty heady stuff for a presidential aide.
Imagine that, during a Clinton admin, some aide in Whitehouse had nasty fight with his wife over his affair, then strangled her with a necktie, and were caught later by police. Freerepublic must have had thread over it running for many days.
There are many nutballs in the seat of power in S. Korea these days. They may have not yet strangled anybody with their necktie, but their mentality disturbs many, as shown in this murder. A country's helm in the hands of emotionally unbalanced kooks. It is not boring, but it is not pleasant either.
Ping!
Well then, that seals it.No man like this would ever harm his wife....unless he suspected that she was an enemy of the people, that is.
Be safe and thank you.
CO
Nope. Can't imagine anything like that happening in the Clinton White House.
Well, a handgun is a whole different story.:)

Sounds like a typical Taiwanese politician.
I suspected that something similar is going on in Taiwan. I heard that DPP feels some kindred spirit with Uri Party, S. Korea's ruling party.
While their attitude against their communist neighbor is completely opposite, they may share some similar behavior patterns.
However, I support more assertive Taiwan.
Good post. I remember how angry the American Left Asia hands were over Kwangju.
Chairman Mao, The Beloved Leader Kim Jong Il, Josef Stalin, and Adolph Hitler all knew that they embodied Rousseau's General Will, the will of the people if/when the people understood that everything was being done for their good.
Some things never change.
I cannot agree with your description of those people as "pinko". Red, Stalinist Red, Red as Hell.
Yeah, they are hardcore. Living in Seoul, enjoying luxuries of capitalist society cannot change that. Underneath that facade, you can see the same characteristics as N. Korean regime. Habitual brinkmanship, fanatic hatred of U.S., total repudiation of ROK, extreme xenophobia, and ultra-nationalism with a N. Korean twist. It is just that they don't have control of military and vast security apparatus.
