386-ers, those of his generation (between mid 30's and early 40's), are know in S. Korean society for complete intolerance, black/white world view, and blinding rage when they cannot get their way. If you get into argument with them, they usually blew up. Unlimited sense of sanctimony and self-righteousness. Their ends completely justify their means.
As such, many are ticking timebombs. This couple must be such a case. The hubby was reportedly having an affair. They fought. They drove out to cool down. However, a fight broke out again. This time, the wife yelled, "I will kill you." In response, he took out his necktie and strangle her with it, according to his confession to police. A pretty heady stuff for a presidential aide.
Imagine that, during a Clinton admin, some aide in Whitehouse had nasty fight with his wife over his affair, then strangled her with a necktie, and were caught later by police. Freerepublic must have had thread over it running for many days.
There are many nutballs in the seat of power in S. Korea these days. They may have not yet strangled anybody with their necktie, but their mentality disturbs many, as shown in this murder. A country's helm in the hands of emotionally unbalanced kooks. It is not boring, but it is not pleasant either.
Ping!
Be safe and thank you.

Nope. Can't imagine anything like that happening in the Clinton White House.

Sounds like a typical Taiwanese politician.
I cannot agree with your description of those people as "pinko". Red, Stalinist Red, Red as Hell.
