I want my debit card now because I hear there will be a hurricane to hit the east coast this summer and I want to beat the rush.
FEMA giveth and FEMA taketh away? :)
How will they get this money back?
Weren't the majority of hurricane victims on welfare?
If the parties that be haven't already sent back the
errant monies, they probably never will.
Interesting. I wonder if there could be a case made that the people who received the money, knowing they received it under false pretenses, could face criminal prosecution? I've always maintained that federal money should not be used to finance private home reconstruction. However, the idea of getting transfer payments back puts an even more interesting twist on things.
The media's demands for faster response is in direct contradiction with their demand that no mistakes be made. When you move very fast, mistakes WILL be made. That is one of the costs of fast response.
However, not moving fast often has much higher costs. The media seems to believe immediate response with no mistakes is possible. It isn't.
And how much will this futile attempt cost?
They always want their money back. It is always a low-interest loan.
And they dole it out in dribbles.
And if you comingle your own savings with their money or otherwise don't follow their rules, they cut you off.
It's a nightmare.
