This is interesting. The media is reporting that republicans are turning away from Bush yet we see this poll that states the opposite.
NEW YORK, March 23, 2006 Republican voters are split in their support of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain for president in 2008, with Bush supporters preferring Giuliani and Republicans who disapprove of Bush preferring McCain. In a head-to-head presidential primary match-up among Republicans voters, McCain and Giuliani are statistically tied (42% Giuliani, 40% McCain), but Bush supporters back Giuliani 45%-38%, while Republicans who disapprove of Bush prefer McCain 51%-34%.
Although President Bushs approval ratings continue to slide in national polls, his support among Republican voters remains strong, with 80% of Republican voters approving of his job performance, and 84% expressing a strongly or somewhat favorable opinion of him. Evangelicals report an 85% approval rating of Bush, and 89% have a favorable opinion of the president.

Ping.
McCain will not get the nomination
He is the most hated man in the republican party
Yea .. that's the same msm that said there was no connection between Saddam and Bin Laden
Now they have to eat their words with that ABC article that came out
I'm not too sure. We gave the nomination to Dole because it was "his turn."
I'm telling ya .. McCain will never make it out of the primaries
I am not split. I dislike them both for many reasons.
I agree. My wife and I have met them both, each at a relatively small fundraiser. My wife has an uncanny knack for reaching a correct first impression about someone she meets. Her reaction to McCain was significantly negative. She saw him as amoral and egotistical. Her reaction to Rudy was quite different. Based on my wife's conclusions and also on what Rudy accomplished in New York, I would choose Rudy over McCain any day.
Hope you're right.
And I might also add .. that was back before the Internet was big and we only had the msm to rely on for our news
Maybe that's why McCain wants to shut us down .. and the reason why he is the most hated man in the Republican party
I will definitely vote for Rudy Guiliani. I will NOT vote for McCain. I think Guiliani WILL be the Candidate and I also predict he will BEAT Hillary handily. You heard it here!
I am somewhere to the right of Alan Keyes politically, but I have no idea why the base is supporting Bush. We should have been giving him the Harriet Miers treatment everytime he betrayed conservative principles.
Hopefully we will have somebody completely unknown by next summer or fall '07. Prayers to that big time. If not, then 08 election is going to be interesting to say the least. Last election we had the highest amont of people vote in a long time and the 08 election could be the lowest presidential election in history. I mean people will vote but just leave President blank.
Oh goody. Then we can have the second Philanderer in Chief. Or the 3rd if you count Prince JFK.
I think it is certianly one among many reasons.
I want Fred Thompson. If we can't have him, I'd even support Tancredo.
But, he ain't getting the nod either.
.
I might tolerate the Mormon guy from Massachusetts, but I didn't find him in this poll after a quick scanning of the article.
Rush has been saying this for the longest time, despite the fact the media has been saying president Bush has "the lowest poll numbers in recorded history".
