Oh, you've got to be kidding.

If she wants to give Neil's company money, she should do it as an investor and without taking the tax deduction.

A classless move from an otherwise very classy lady.

Maybe, don't know WHY one would think this (sarcasm intended), the Houston Chronicle didn't get their information quite right.

ABC News is all over this...especially the part about the donations going to her son's company.

Who would win in a fight - Neil Bush or Roger Clinton?

Who gives a rats a$$. It's her money, if she wants to donate it with stipulations, so be it.

I love Barbara Bush, but she should have known better. The merits or lack of them have nothing to do with this. It is bad PR for the Bush family, plain and simple.

I don't know all the background but it seems that the Houston schools were already using his product and the money goes to expand its use. By the way, she only earmarked a portion of her donation.

It looks like a good tool. But she probably should have just given the money to the company with the instructions to give it the schools. On the other hand, maybe her intent was that she liked the system and thought it was a great thing to give the schools and that the people managing the Katrina fund would know best where to send the computers.

So if I donated a bunch of Home Depot gift cards would the donation be seen as unfairly aiding Home Depot?

Ironic that this would come out at the same time that the tests of students in Texas showed that the hurricane students scored VERY BADLY on the Texas assessment tests.

Perhaps that is her motivation...but, dang, does President Bush need another "scandal"???

I am not saying it is a scandal...but the MSM and dems will, and you know what I mean.

Barbara Bush is almost in the ranks of Mother Theresa and mother nature: You shouldn't mess with her.

It's tacky. She should have just bought the software and donated it. The difference? Tackiness. lol.

I just don't see this carrying a lot of weight with the majority of Americans against W. If my mom gets a speeding ticket does that mean I'm a reckless driver??

Of course any little thing is good enough for the left and the MSM. Besides, I think the MSM is going to have a real hard time vilifying Barbra Bush. She gave money to help, she gave it a company that educates children. Her son owns it, but really so what, does that make it a bad company?

How is it NOT a donation? Whatever value is donated to the victims is value no longer in the Bush family holdings.
It is not a zero sum game, because Bar gets a tax break for making the donation. Therefore, it actually adds to the Bush family holdings.

How do we know she gets a tax break? Maybe she takes the standard deduction.
