"... black, office-style trash cans covered in silver duct tape."

Duct tape. Disgruntled NASA engineers.

The bombs were described as black, office-style trash cans covered in silver duct tape.

That sounds like it qualifies as I.E.D.s and of course a quagmire in controlling these insurgents.

"Update, 1:25 p.m.: Police have two people of interest in explosions"

Friday, March 24, 2006

By GARY HARMON, EMILY MORRIS and MIKE SACCONE

The Daily Sentinel

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Several crude bombs exploded and two were disarmed this morning outside Grand Junction homes located across the county.

One of the residents targeted said all of the homes targeted belonged to employees of Serco, a subcontractor for the Federal Aviation Administration in Grand Junction.

Police have not made any arrests, but they are investigating two individuals they believe to be connected to the case.

As of 1 p.m., police said they had two “people of interest.”

Police have established a command center for the bomb investigation at the Grand Junction Police Department, 625 Ute Ave.

Interim Police Chief Bill Gardner crossed his fingers as he said, “It’s very possible we can have this case solved today.”

He added, however, “This is a legitimate public safety threat. We want everybody to be vigilant.”"

One explosion scorched the front of a garage door and melted vinyl siding.

That's it? An office-trash-can-sized bomb and all it did was scorch the garage door and melt vinyl siding?

That's not much of a bomb.

Police asked residents to help them find Robert L. Burke, 54, who Christmas confirmed was a former Serco employee. Police described him as a person of interest rather than a suspect, but would not elaborate.
