Remember that this is the state where notorious gangster/murderer (and No. 1 on the FBI's domestic Most Wanted list) Whitey Bulger operated out of, with his brother the long-time speaker of the legislature. I don't know exactly how any state has remained this corrupt to this day, but you could catch some of the politicians in the act of child molestation and they'd still get 40% of the vote.
My brother mentioned Chappaquidick to some of his younger co-workers and they had no idea what he was talking about. When he explained what happened, they were incredulous.
Kennedy obviously paying someone to cobble together a legacy for him. As he begins the long death journey to beach himself, he can only hope he's not poked too much by onlookers. Along with clinton, the best he can hope to be said is "it could've been worse, I guess."
