p>The Talk Shows
Sunday, March 26th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Gary Schroen, former CIA agent; Democratic strategist James Carville, Republican strategist Mary Matalin.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and national security adviser Stephen Hadley.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo.; Gov. Brian Schweitzer, D-Mont.; Harvey Mansfield, author of "Manliness," and author Naomi Wolf.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; Sens. Jack Reed, D-R.I., and Pat Roberts, R-Kan., retired Marine Gen. Bernard Trainor, author of "COBRA II: The Inside Story of the Invasion and Occupation of Iraq," retired Army Gen. George Joulwan; Qubad Talabany, representative to the U.S. of the Iraqi Kurdistan regional government.
Good morning everyone and thanks AB. Condi is the main attraction today and it will be fun to see what she has to say.
First?
Good morning, Alas. As predicted, Arlen won himself a slot on the Sunday talkfest with his schelduling of hearings on Feingold's censure idiocy.
Mc Cain and Mistah Dashell must be on the Imus ranch this weekend.
Bwahahha! Good one. And so true!
Morning all. I will be doing the top 10 today but I have a guy out ill so I do not think I will get it done today. Have fun!
Amy 'Viva La Revolution' Goodman's presence on a national stage is particularly onerous. Her show on Public Access TV is a showcase for Leftists and their venomous ideology. She certainly is a walking example of what Rush has talked about as a perprtually frowning, angry, unfunny Kommie. Also, Chris Matthews has been giving her face-time upon occasion on Hardboiled.
Tyrell (counterbaence) is a breath of fresh-air after her non-stop blather.

Is it not the duty of the messenger to deliver ALL messages instead of delivering a few while trashing others?
MSM keep hyping number of people dying in Iraq (while defending their country or falling victims to terrorists).
Don't we all deserve to know the truth, like
U.S. deaths in Iraq have declined every month since October 2005?
Good morning thanks for posting. My time clock is all over the place we put the clocks forward this weekend, when do yours go forward?
Emmett Tyrell is on CPAN now.
Sorry to hear your colleague is sick hope he/she is soon better both for their sake and yours.
Jimmy and Mary are planning a new reality program. Any guesses that it is going to be aired on NBC?
I was watching cspan this morning -- Amy Goodman was on. OMG -- what a piece of work she is. Most of her comments were outrageous, but of the most interesting statements that I heard out of her mouth is this: "the job of the journalists is to create dissention".
Think he is in Iraq with his pal Feingold.
From Phsstpok....The most interesting guest to me is Condi Rice. How badly will they edit the interviews when they show the clips on the news?
The dominant meme appears to be that Bush has failed in Iraq, the GOP is running away from him, but Bush is so unpopular that the Republicans are doomed in November. And the Bush administration/conservatives/fascists/blogs are trying to blame the messenger for the bad news out of Iraq, but they're just doing their jobs and they never get anything wrong.
MORE coffee!
What do you suppose the swimmer wants to whine about?
Good Morning, folks! Looks like we are encompassing the entire relevant-irrelevant spectrum with Kennedy on one end and Condi on the other end..
I couldn't help thinking that Ms. Goodman has never known a happy day in her life. Nor a sane one.
Old media seems to be in the business of creating news today, as opposed to reporting it.
April 2
Next weekend. April 1st. Do you all do April's fool jokes? I know they do in Germany, but don't know if the British do.
The FTN website says the topics are the Iraq War, Iran, and Immigration. My bet is Teddy K. is going to pull out his "quagmire" routine.
Not only that. If the Junk Media is "a mirror on Iraq"
why have there been ZERO stories about reconstruction projects completed? Zero stories covering Medal Award Ceremonies? ZERO stories covering the turn over of former American bases to Iraqi security forces? They have gone from being Junk Journalists to now knowingly LYING about their coverage.
Morning, Snugs! We move our clocks forward on the 2nd..
Morning cardinal4, great flying weather in Denver this morning. Just so you know....
McCain is probably spending today figuring out how to abolish the second amendment now that he and Feingold have taken care of the first.
I guess part of their defense will be that that's the way they cover the news at home--I've already heard that from some media pundits. "Only bad news is news." Totally cynical and amazing how they willingly admit it and use it as justification.
How Media covers Iraq -> See how Fox's producer Jerry Burke responds:
"Have we undercovered the good news?" asks John Burns, Baghdad bureau chief for The New York Times. "We probably have. But there's nothing willful about it. I would enter a plea of mitigation that we are overstretched."
Rumsfeld and Bush must know that "it's incredibly dangerous and that the media has a very difficult job," said Jerry Burke, executive producer of daytime programming at Fox News Channel. "We have to cover some aspect of the story so we cover what we can cover without getting our anchors and our reporters blown up." [ Fox better behave, Cheney is watching..]
At a town hall meeting Wednesday in West Virginia, Bush was asked by a woman why the "major TV networks don't portray the good" news from Iraq. Her question drew a standing ovation.
Probably will attack Cheney for the comments he made last week. Cheney should take the Swimmer hunting.
Looks like it, but Im not going anywhere near work today! An interesting aside, Morgan, I just updated my resume for submission for a job in Denver. The same company I have been trying for is hiring again...
The Senate Judiciary Committee has a busy week, and not all of it is related to Feingold's nonsense. First, an executive meeting on Monday, then a series of hearings during the week.
Specter will be able to talk about Feingold, immigration bills, and the NSA program. Feingold and the NSA program are "related" matters.

LoL! It's April 2nd if you stay up till 2:00 AM. I cheat. I set the clocks about 10:00 pm the night before.
No argument, but FNC never claimed to be conservative. We got sucked in because it was the only network willing, even anxious, to present our side for a change.

Right on, MNJohnnie. Thanks to Laura Ingraham & that Ohio couple, media has to defend it's credibility if they think they have left any.
That's just false. They can interview people like the Mayor of Tal Afar, they can do interviews of people in the north, without getting blown up. In fact, Fox did a great series of reports from the Kurdish part of the country.

While wishing you well, we would be sorry to lose you.
I like Mary Matalin by herself--the Sunday she took on David Gregory et al on MTP she was outstanding. It all changes when she's on with James, however.
