The MSM is in Defensive Mode....right now they are trying to get this off the front page so they can help get the Civil War in Iraq started.....these documents don't help them with their Agenda at all!!!!
Some trading was allowed, but yes, much more went on than was legally allowed by the UN sactions.
Do you think it is better to have this title "WMD MOVED TO SYRIA"? I will agree with you but we should say
"Saddam Regime Document: WMD MOVED TO SYRIA PER CHINESE INTELLIGENCE".
"C. He suggested the idea of bringing the Pope John Paul II to visit the country because this visit cause Bush Junior to lose his balance and that he has good relation with the originally German (Ratzinger) in the Vatican and that the latter has influence has influence through waving the card of the financial support that Germany give to the Vatican and it is estimated to be (around 6 billions dollars yearly). "
Is this "He suggested" Schroeder?
Are you retired? You're a machine. Good work!
This one states that Germany and France corroborated together to go against the Americans, and for what? FOR OIL!! Which means I was right when I said - No War. For Oil.
Do you read the translation to mean that Powell stated he is in agreement with Germany, not China, that the wmds were NOT moved to Syria?
thank you.
I hope that Powell did not take the Syrian regime word for denying the moving of Iraq WMD to Syria. In my humble opinion I think Powell agreed more with the Germans because it is an easier thing to do rather than agreeing with the Chinese because if he did agree with the Chinese intelligence that Iraq moved the WMD to Syria that means a lot of more investigations and problems with Syria something that Powell tried to avoid as a DIPLOMAT.</p>
Well we all remember how this was happening from both the Germans and the French.
I think I said it in my post that was deleted, but I'll say it again:
This is exactly what Rush Limbaugh said we would find - evidence of the French and Germans violating UN sanctions to get oil out of Iraq. This is what many of us have been saying since before the invasion when the French and Germans (especially, but others as well) were fighting the US on this in the security council. It was obvious then and it appears to be proved now.
Thanks for the ping to this translation, I probably would have missed it today otherwise!
Absolutely.
But the memo doesn't give any indication as to what Powell thought, just that he went to Damascus and Syria denied receiving WMDs, right?
Confirm is an interesting word.
What it does is provide another source telling the same story.
You're doing yeoman's work. Keep it up! :-)
Thank you jveritas. I was misreading this part of your translation:
"the US state secretary went to Damascus to check on this with the Syrian government that in turn denied this news.
thank you for the clarification. Re: the Chinese claim (hint) that the wmds had been moved from Iraq to Syria. along with Germany, it was the Syrian government that denied 'this news'. Not Powell.
Again....thank you so very much for your dedication!
That is a forgery. Loic le Floc Prigent is in jail! And he was a friend of Francois Mitterand. If you knew anything about french politics, you would know that is a good reason to NOT be counted among Chirac's friends.... http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lo%C3%AFk_Le_Floch-Prigent
He has never been a councelor to Chirac. pesky little details, right? Being under investigation, he was unable to leave France, and/or be a councelor of the President.
Powell arrives in Syria for talks
U.S. secretary of state hopes for 'full and candid' conversation

DAMASCUS, Syria (CNN) -- U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell arrived in Damascus on Friday for talks with President Bashar Assad of Syria, which the United States has called a "rogue state." .........
....."From Tirana, the secretary flew to Damascus, which has been under U.S. pressure since the fall of the regime in Baghdad. Officials said Powell hopes to have a "full and candid" conversation with Assad and other Syrian leaders.
President Bush has accused Syria of harboring Saddam's henchmen and developing weapons of mass destruction.
Powell has threatened sanctions against the country but also has said there are no immediate plans to expand the war in Iraq to Syria. Syria denies the allegations from Washington. "

I will keep looking to see if I can find anything Powell might have said regarding his findings from this trip.
Thanks for the ping. I gotta use that as a tagline.
Well, like I said, you're a machine. Keep up the good work so I can have lots of ammo against dirty liberals.
Bump!
