Hundreds of northwest Houston high school students walked out of class Monday to protest in the streets over efforts in Congress to crack down on illegal immigrants, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Students at Eisenhower High School started their protest march at their school, located at 7922 Antoine, and planned to end it at Interstate 45.
The House passed measures that would make being an undocumented immigrant a felony and erect a 700-mile fence along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border.
Many of the students said immigration reform hits close to home and they believe that it would be unfair.
"This is a country of immigrants. How are you just going to make a law and tell them to leave? You can't just do that," a student said.
"We're the hardest working people in the country and they're trying to take us away," another student said.
Lawmakers said the stricter regulations are necessary to improving homeland security and economic strength.
The students said the decision to walk out of school was made Monday morning.
Students at four Dallas-area schools also walked out of class in protest.
The Senate takes up the issue Tuesday.
None of the kiddies here appear to be marching. Even our few local race pimps appear to be quiet.
It is amazing how the protestors cannot hear the word "illegal" in the phrase "illiegal immigration". Many of my ancestors were immigrants, but they followed the rules of the day to get here. That is all I ask of ANY immigrant here regardless of their country of origin - file the paperwork and complete the forms and secure their visa and other approriate documents.
You're a student who skips out of school. You call that "working hard"?
My answer is POP QUIZ, no makeup.

Actually, these "activitists" are merely in training to ask "Would you like fries with your burger?" ... something they can't learn in a classroom.

It is as easy as attracting grad students with the lure of a free buffet (I speak from experience :-)).
In California they wave a foreign flag. So much for pride in this nation. They still prefer the homeland.
And so much for this being about any other illegal immigrants (just as the war on terrorism is focused on one group that more than any other violates the peace).
One of those race pimps (the one running for school board) has organized a Cesar Chavez march for Saturday. It was in the paper Saturday. She used to work for La Raza, I think.
Does anyone take protesting high school students seriously? All they care about is they got out of math for a day.
....guess this brain full of mush never heard of Ellis Island or any other entry point down through history where people ENTERED THE COUNTRY LEGALLY...where people this very day are entering this country LEGALLY!!

Those students have no "right" to skip school for any kind of protest. If HISD had any cajones, they would charge each kid with an unexcused absence and require a birth certificate or green card prior to returning.
Of course Judge Wayne T. Justice long ago required us to send the children of ILLEGAL aliens to school, so I suppose they don't "need no stinking badges", uh, I mean green cards. That fence can't get built fast enough to suit me.

I may have to make time to Freep that! I can screw with the attendees by carrying pictures of Stalin with the slogan "Chavez was a wannbe piker compared to me!" or "Communism: A Century of Failure and Millions of Deaths Means Nothing!"
Someone should explain to these young idiots that they're going to be spending a lot of their own money on illegals throughout their lifetimes.

It wouldn't sink in if you did explain it. These kids skipping school doesn't hurt anything, they only read and do math at about 37% of their grade level. They might as well stay out.
I ask this, if the homeland of those immigrants is so freakin' great, then why do so many come HERE to find economic opportunity?
I am proud of my European ancestry, but I don't have a sticker of a British, or German or Scottish flag on my car. Also, I do not have a bumper sticker bearing the emblem of the American Indian tribe from which a sizeable portion of my bloodline is derived. I am an American, hyphenate me at your own peril.
