These photos were taken at Ground Zero, the World Trade Center site in New York, on September 13, 2001.

They were taken by someone named "Ed" who was allowed into the area by a member of the emergency response crew, at a time when all civilians -- including most journalists -- were forbidden to enter the area. As a result, these photos are just about the only close-ups ever taken of the World Trade Center site so soon after the 9/11 attacks.

Wow, amazing. It seems hard to believe now this ever happened. I wish this would be published in a widely read source somewhere to snap Americans out of their vile complacency that is telling them we need to withdraw from the fight against these very Al Qaeda animals in Iraq who did this to us on 9-11. Al Qaeda will not cease wanting to do us in just because we no longer buy Saudi oil, which I've never heard as a stated reason for their wanting to attack us to begin with. And we have nearly all our troops out of Saudi Arabia now since we no longer need to patrol a no fly zone in Iraq (a fringe benefit of having overthrown Saddam). Yet Al Qaeda still wants to do us harm.

Let's not fall prey to the battered wives syndrome interpretation of why Al qaeda hit us which says "They had to hit us, we made them mad!" No, they hit us because of who we are, what we believe, what we represent and because of what we stand in the way of their doing. Make no mistake about that.

Looking at these photos, it occured to me why the left has forgotten.

People on the left can be angered easily. When they want blood, they want it now, and a lot of it. But this event... it didn't touch them. Take for example, someone in Ohio, where I am. We saw the images. We heard the stories. But, if one is self absorbed, the effect on our daily life was negligible. The internet didn't go down. Our electric stayed on. We could get gas and food. There was virtually no inconvenience of any type.

If the left is hit with something that say... disrupts the flow of coffee to starbucks, then look out, they'd be behind invading Iraq, Iran, Saudi, and Syria all in the same day.

A friend's son worked in Building 7 and had to dodge falling bodies as he escaped his building.

The word trauma doesn't begin to cover what the people involved in that day experienced.

I haven't seen photos from the windows of the neighboring building like that. I think I was in that building, maybe even at that window, in October of 2005.

That big crane was huge. You don't really get a sense of scale in the photo. You could see it from Staten Island.

These need to be seen by more than just FReepers.
