Demonstrators gather around a burning motorcycle

Have they run out of cars to burn? What's next--bicycles?

Well .. I'm thinking if I was a french gal who just had my car torched

I might have a few choice words

You can push people to a point and eventually they will push back

Though .. it will take the people of France a little longer then others

Welfare states can only last one generation - My wife is french and the kids get tons of money and gifts from their french grandparents; they both were govt workers and retired at 55 and live a great life.

Interesting that the term most used for these thugs is "youths" - they may be young, but the terminology should be "rioters" and "anarchists".

"Hello Indolence: The art & necessity of doing the least possible at work."

A HUGE best seller, Bonjour Paresse, (a nod to Françoise Sagan's 50s novel, Bonjour Tristesse or Hello Sadness), pledges to explain why it is in your interest to do the least work possible and will tell you how to damage the system from within "without appearing to do so".

Dear France: You're a fookin' wreck. Please refrain from ever bad-mouthing the American social scene for the rest of your damned lives.

Signed, America.

That is something else they said: that some of the police are dressed like the rioters!

I found a picture of the plainsclothes or "undercover" police - it's posted in #48. Cute little sticks they have!
