I just got back from Taiwan and a lot of the people there do not believe that China will invade them. They told me that the people of China will revolt and overthrow the commies before they would invade Taiwan. There is no middle class in China and the poor will rise up against the elite. Where as the Taiwanese have adopted free enterprise and are doing great in industry and agriculture.
The gap between rich and poor is stunning. I have heard that the kind of socialist safety net that we have here in the US does not exist to the same extent in China.
The thing that bothers me is that China's aborting so many girl babies over the last twenty years or more is creating a surplus of young men.
What might a dictatorship do with so many excess young men?
Heck, they're as likely to invade a country to steal brides and concubines as to take land.
