Well, contaminated water might explain why the voters there keep reelecting jean francoise querrie and fat ted to the senate.
The inconvenience to the citizens in those area is monoumental.
Bite me.
What's your definition of "oldster"?
I'm 27. I just prefer the music that came out before I was born, that's all.... :-)

Teens arrested after break-in at water plant
Empty jug with strange odor was found at scene in Massachusetts town
Updated: 8:58 a.m. ET March 29, 2006
BLACKSTONE, Mass. - Authorities charged two teenagers in connection with a break-in at a water facility and expected to charge a third as more than 9,000 area residents waited to hear Wednesday if their drinking water had been contaminated.
The teens are suspected of cutting the barbed wire at the facility late Monday, cutting lines to an alarm, and then damaging an electrical panel and a vent at the top of a 1.3-million-gallon water storage tank, said Blackstone Police Lt. Gregory Gilmore......

I just flat don't know. Sorry.
This is what the guy on the radio was saying; if it was that easy for the kids to get into the area, what about terrorists?
Not to mention just plain fear. Imagine you've been drinking and using the water for the last 12-24 hours, and suddenly the word comes down that not only should you not DRINK it, but you shouldn't even let it touch your skin! I'd think the good citizens of Blackstone and N. Smithfield would like a piece of those kids right about now.
Empty buckets are often used to cart tools and stuff to the top of tanks.
My guess is that a maintenance contractor grabbed the first thing he could find to carry something up to the top, and just left the empty bucket up there. I once had to change the light bulbs on tanks like these and that is how I carried them and my tools up to the tops. It really is not rocket science. But then this is Mass......:-)
Looks like some info is still missing. Why the bucket? Perhaps the bucket is not even connected to the vandals.
Curiouser and curiouser.
I dunno....but it looks like they are in big doo-doo...

Yeah. I think our 'betters' want to make examples of them.
It's probably something that kills off brain cells and turns people into democrats
It's been going on for some time, then?
OMG that is so funny! And not tooo far off for the Boston area!
