In case anyone is interested in more details, the two towns affected are Blackstone, MA and N. Smithfield, RI. The towns share the same water supply, and the schools are closed.

On a personal note, my town borders both of those towns, and I am not drinking the water. (...not even giving it to my pets.)

I would think if it was something SO BAD that 5 gallons could ruin a water supply for two cities, they would have found a dead body not for from where the bucket was opened.
