29/03/2006 08:43 - (SA)
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Abuja - Nigeria has arrested 22 police officers who had been deployed to keep watch on former Liberian leader Charles Taylor, says a force spokesperson on Tuesday.
Taylor had been living in exile in a plush villa in the southeastern Nigerian city of Calabar, but was found to have left the house late on Monday, two days after President Olusegun Obasanjo promised to send him home.
Although the war crimes suspect was not considered by Nigerian authorities to be under house arrest, security forces were supposed to keep watch on him and international prosecutors had demanded he be detained."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "LAGOS, Nigeria (CNN) -- Liberian warlord Charles Taylor has been arrested, Nigerian police said Wednesday.
Taylor, wanted by an international tribunal to stand trial for crimes against humanity, went missing on Monday night and was caught at Nigeria's southern border with Cameroon, national police spokesman Haz Iwendi told The Associated Press.
Taylor, who is wanted by the U.N.-backed Special Court in Sierra Leone, vanished Tuesday from the Nigerian villa where he was living in exile, days after Nigeria said Liberian authorities could repatriate him.
In Washington, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the matter was of critical importance."
Surprise! Taylor is arrested crossing the border.
I guess Obsanjo decided all that good old American foreign aid was worth more than Taylor's bribe money in the long run.
Ramsey Clark, calling Ramsey Clark.
Good. Now maybe he can get himself killed while trying to escape.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
More likely we will all get a round of letters and e-mail offering to split Mr. Taylor's fortune if we will just send ten thousand dollars to facilitate his escape.
