Observing the pro-immigration demonstrations in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Atlanta and elsewhere in recent days, I wondered: whose country is this? Why are many illegal aliens who broke our laws to get here and who continue to break our laws to stay here, demanding that the United States not only allow them to remain, but support them with the taxes of law-abiding citizens? Have we gone mad?

If they cannot, or will not, they should be deemed illegals and deported.Gutless, Politically Correct government will prevent this!
The US government doesn't serve the suckers who continue to vote them into office, they serve the illegals who sneak across our borders, some with the intent to steal, rape and murder us!

Have we gone mad? It's not madness, sadly enough. It's deliberate.
There was a book a ways back called Amusing Ourselves to Death. The premise was we would cheer the demise of the Republic if such was sold to us as entertainment. Sadly, much of that premise has come to pass.
And now the flip side is happening - our leaders will help bring on the further demise of the republic as long as someone makes a buck off the process.

No, our government serves the criminal scum that imports and employs illegals as slaves. The GOP has come full circle to become everything which Lincoln fought against.

Chill.
The best thing about these immigrants (whether legal or illegal) is that they will assimilate in one generation.
(I.E., they are not like the muslim immigrants in Europe)
We have survived--and assimilated--tidal waves of Irish, Italians, Jews, Greeks, etc., and we will survive Mexicans.
The culture will add another flavor, that's all.
They're here. It's too late to send them back. We can fix the border so no more arrive illegally, but don't waste time crying over what isn't going to be changed.
To: FerdieMurphy
Please call them INVADERS and don't compare them to people who are legal aliens!
IF you aid and abet CRIMINALS, you are a criminal!
President Bush has been great on most things except for our border.
He has been great on the war on terrorists.
But on the border he is a gross failure.
He acted fast and correct on the 3,000+ people murdered at the world trade center.
He ignores the many rapes, murders and robberies which might be larger than the murders and money loss at the world trade center.
More Americans are abducted on the border of Mexico than in Iraq!
Start building the fence.
It should be made a felony for Criminals who overstay their visas and Invaders.
I believe we should give amnesty to these poor CRIMINALS or INVADERS.
This should be a 2 week amnesty to get the heck out of our Country.
The ones who ignore this amnesty should be buried in a tent city jail and fined $10,000 or buried elsewhere.
All aiders and abettors of these CRIMINALS or INVADERS should get 1 year in a tent city jail and a $10,000 fine for each CRIMINAL aided.
Those in government should be the first ones charged.

Have we gone mad? We have not gone mad. Our politicians see a great opportunity to erase the present majority and replace it in one act with a more reliable pro government majority of voters. Why the Republicans are going along with it so enthusiastically, I don't know- the new majority will never vote for any labled Republican. We transform a free market country into a socialist welfare state instantly.

Question: "WHOSE COUNTRY IS THIS?"
Response: Given the response to date the 'country' seems to be up for grabs.

These are illegals, not immigrants, and they have no intention of assimilating. There is a big difference between someone who comes here to start a new life and someone who come in as a temporary "guest worker".

They're here. It's too late to send them back.We don't have to send them back. We can change the system to where most will want to deport themselves.
We cannot reward illegal immigration. We tried that once. It failed. It is absurd to try and do that again, in case you missed the demonstrations filled with Mexican flags in our country recently.

You must be descended from a French Surrender Monkey. Some of us still think our country is worth fighting for.

It's pandering for votes. "Too many to roundup" is just an excuse for demos and spinless RINOs who all hope to get the illegal's vote.
Make the punishment for being here illegally strong enough to scare most of them back across the border.
Make the punishment for hiring illegals strong enough to prevent most of them from being hired.
Then round up the remainder, sieze their assets and send them back just the clothes on their backs.

I disagree that they will assimilate in one generation.
There are already several generations here who still refuse to learn English.

"We don't have to send them back. We can change the system to where most will want to deport themselves."
We're short 90,000 agricultural workers in California--even the illegals have gone elsewhere because picking fruit doesn't pay enough.
Ergo, there are still jobs to be had in the USA; and there are still poverty-stricken unemployed in Mexico. That's a combustable situation.

During a demonstration in Chicago, one person (a politician?) declared, "We're taking over."

BS, there is already a generation here, still unassimilated, and worse they want us to leave.

I don't ever remember being told my Irish great-great grandmother doing this to the American flag before she got citizenship..
This photo will crush the debate on the guest worker program...

Our rulers in DC have come full circle, from guaranteeing liberty to citizens, to treating citizens as subjects, even taking their private property by force if government wants that property to produce higher taxes for itself. We need to be seriously considering if the tipping point for abuse of our citizens by a dictatorial government and its lap dog Supreme Court has already occurred.
