"Woof" is used in broadcasting to say "stop," "that's enough" or to mark a specific point in time -- which is what is done in this case. "Tony's show starts in 3 minutes: WOOF!" Means in 3 minutes from-- NOW!
For us to get their attention may take a statement of similar weight and scope. In fact, it may take that... and a bit more.
No matter what kind of legislation is passed, I fear that when it comes time to implement it, the lawmakers will become squishy and we will be back to square one. At some point it won't matter because we will be outnumbered.
They also come to expect these "rights" and benefits. If and when the time comes to take these things away, they won't give them up without a fight.

As a side note here: Let's increase the waiting/processing time necessary to become a US citizen.

BTW - Tony said let's get Bill Richardson on. I believe it's Samantha that calls him a greasy rutabaga. I think Bill will just do the usual talking out of both sides of his mouth - - he's gotta pander just right, don't ya know, since he's going to be running for Prez, or perhaps as Hill's VP.
Melting Pot is not considered PC!
Discussed this on a thread yesterday. A teacher corrected me that instead of Melting Pot, we are now to think of ourselves as a stew or soup, where all of the flavors are preserved and blended! Give me a BREAK!!
Our politicians are so PC wobbly that I wouldn't be surprised if there is an earthquake in D.C.
