And then there are 99% of FReepers, who simply want Republicans, including the President, to do the right thing.

True, until you flesh out what the "right thing" is. There's no agreement on that at all around here.

HAHAHAHA........you always say that when you're busted.

And it's right there for ALL to see.

You said:

Indeed. But 'free speech' doesn't extend to foreign nationals invading our country and raising their country's banner over our public buildings.

And then posted a picture of kids SKIPPING SCHOOL, trying to pass it off as them being arrested for putting a flag over a government building.

I'm pretty sure The Founding Fathers didn't have a problem with TRUANCY.

You, on the other hand, are just contented to talk behind people's backs, never bothering to ping them so they can defend themselves to your vicious personal attacks.

No guts, CS.

"You DO know what premise means, right? They do use that word on the other forums, I presume?"

Well, lookie here -- ol' John L's a bit paranoid, isn't he? Oh dear.

But where's the news we've been waiting for:

Are you going to let Freepers know which issue of 'Good Housekeeping' has been THE most exciting? Don't keep us in suspense!

"The notion that Bush wants to do anything stop illegal immigration is fantasy. He has had five years to deal with the problem, and he has done nothing..."

No one who has paid any attention to the facts would claim that he's done nothing with a straight face.

I just spent 9 days along the U.S. - Mexico border, including 2 days around Playa de Tijuana and Tijuana itself. Unlike what you'd see 5 years ago, you don't see hordes of illegals running and swimming across the border. You *do* see U.S. border patrols, U.S. Coast Guard ship patrols, helicopter patrols, and a big steel fence that GWB built after 9/11.

Now granted, this increased border security probably isn't perfect, but it irritates me that people are claiming that we've "done nothing" or that our borders are still "wide open" and other such nonsense.

Yes, there are remote desert areas where environmental groups have successfully sued the Bush Administration in order to slow the construction of the steel fence. Yes, those remote areas *are* passable on foot (but you'd better bring a bunch of water and be prepared to hike for miles) for now. So clearly more needs to be done.

But we also have to give credit where it is due, and there has been substantial progress on border security in the last 3 years, contrary to the people who keep writing articles based on pre-9/11 information.

"The president cited a 66 percent increase in border-security funding since he took office, along with a 42 percent increase in interior-enforcement spending and a total of 6 million illegal aliens caught and returned home." http://www.washingtontimes.com/functions/print.php?StoryID=20060326-123457-5749r

DHS Announces CBP Border Patrol Agent Deployment Schedule
Washington, D.C. – Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced today the fiscal year 2006 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol agent deployment schedule. In a significant increase in personnel, an additional 1,700 CBP Border Patrol agents will be assigned to the southwest border.

Enforce the law, enforce the border, and don't reward illegal activity with one of the most most valuable things on earth, U.S. citizenship.

That's pretty much the consensus among Americans of all political stripes.

The only ones who are out of sync are the extreme Left and the political elites who for some reason think they are smarter than everyone else.

I'm not sure whether the Mexican flag was raised over the public school itself, or a mock-up flagpole during one of the demonstrations that these precocious students attended after ditching school.

It's kind of hard to discern truth from fiction when it comes to the mass media.

All those digitally-inserted American flags that weren't there, for example.

The L.A. Times must have some fantastic computer graphics wizards.

I'm not arguing that there weren't American flags raised. In fact, I bet there was, as emboldened as they were.

I'm saying that EV picked a picture that HAD THE EXPLANATION beside it that it was for truancy, and tried to pass it off as being arrested for raising that flag.

Just wanted to say I admire your tenacity. Some of the people 'debating' with you on this thread argue in the same manner liberals do - without facts and with angry hyperbole, particularly when presented with the facts. I certainly wish I had your patience and commitment to putting the truth out there.

I did get a lot from your posts (links) that I will be using tomorrow against my favorite Kerry-fan. Thanks!

Maybe we need to look at our own back yard. Remember Reading, 'Riting and 'Rithmethic? The libs are destroying our country from within, aka public schools. But, who's demostrating? LA public school kids (legal or illegal, doesn't matter, our public school systems are destroying the future of this country). Don't you care about our own citizens? Let's look at our system if you're going to go down the path of 'decent' living. A high school drop out (a citizen) isn't advancing our society, he's encouraging others to immigrate here.
