It is almost as if they are looking at two different Americas. Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, who supports a legalization plan, was surrounded by reporters Tuesday on Capitol Hill. Lawmakers say they face days of contentious debate on the issue. The Senate Republicans who voted on Monday to legalize the nation's illegal immigrants look at the waves of immigration reshaping this country and see a powerful work force, millions of potential voters and future Americans. The House Republicans who backed tough border security legislation in December look at the same group of people and see a flood of invaders and lawbreakers who threaten national security and American jobs and culture.
.......
Senator Sam Brownback, Republican of Kansas, who voted for the legalization of illegal immigrants on Monday, says he has seen and felt the shift in his own state.
"Huge increase," he said of the number of new immigrants. "It's a big issue, and it's one where communities that have adapted to it are more accepting and others are more questioning about the scale of what's taking place."
But when he wrestled with the issue, Mr. Brownback decided that he couldn't join the ranks of those who wanted simply to push out illegal immigrants. "This is also about the hallmark of a compassionate society, what you do with the widows, the orphans and the foreigners among you," he said.
Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, echoed those thoughts in his defense of the legalization program, which would ultimately grant immigrants citizenship.
"Where is home?" Mr. Graham asked his colleagues Monday. "Their home is where they've raised their children. Their home is where they've lived their married lives."
"Whatever we do," he added, "we have to recognize that for several generations people have made America their home."

Who is he kidding, the communtities that have accepted it are the commutities that are completely overrun. Please show me one, just one community where and influx of illegals have not decimated it.

Lindsey will be deported from SENATE come ELECTION 2006.

Without a wall and a train that only runs one way into Messico loaded with illegals, I will vote for Hillary.

Wow - that's the first time I've read that here. You must be very pissed! (I am, but I wouldn't go quite that far.)

Unions are finishing off GM, most of the airlines and the government school system right now. They already killed American electronics, steel and shipbuilding. Importing Mexico's poverty and socialism will finish us all. If the Republicans don't grow a backbone NOW, we might as well get ready to fight a very real, and very bloody, civil war.
I agree and, being from SC, will work hard to see his ass whipped but good in the primary.
But, unfortunately, we gotta wait till 2008 to do this. Wish we could tie him up or something till then to prevent him doing more damage to our country :)
RINOs out!!
I won't go quite that far. But I do think a revolution is becoming more and more of a possibility. I hope not... but.
Reminder to self, but more ammo.
That's why we need to hand control of the government over to the Democrats, who are %100 percent wrong on every issue.
If the Republican party will not stand for the National Security of the U.S. now when will they? If they think that I'm going to continue donating funds to the party and supporting Republican candidates just because they are not Democrats they're sadly mistaken. If these cowards can't keep illegal immigration under control there is No hope for the American People. We will be outvoted by these people coming through our southern borders and they will Not only outvote us they will take over larger areas of the country because they have a higher birthrate and they don't need to worry about paying for these kids. We do.
I realize we are in the decline of our civilization and if education and illegal immigration isn't fixed, it will go quickly.
But still, voting for Hillary? I plan to write in Tancredo myself.

Hasten the fight, while we still have some who believe in freedom.
